Sit at night with your favorite warm beverage and enter the mysterious museum and enjoy this catbeats special presentation! Like, I don’t know … a certain B’way production or filmed version thereof that no amount of money or xxx-rated favors could ever in this life induce me to attend?

“Cats of the Louvre” is Taiyo Matsumoto’s Fairy Tale About

Certain rare individuals--both human and feline--possess the ability to enter certain paintings, and it all figures into a story that's more about emotional action than physical. The drawing style hasn't changed too much from Sunny but the supernatural characteristic of the story lets Matsumoto be more varied with his techniques and styles. Or are we, as Taiyo Matsumoto (alongside his wife Saho Tono, who is named as co-creator in the credits) cheekily suggests in Cats of the Louvre, seeking sanctuary from the ravages of time by hiding ourselves away in our associations with artifacts that have achieved immortality? Actually I was quite surprised at the powerful events at the heart of this quietly paranormal story. Le permite al autor dar una mayor profundidad a los gatos, darles voz y explicar mejor tanto sus inquietudes como las relaciones que tienen entre ellos.Of their number it is only Snowbébé, a cat six years old who appears no older than a kitten of several months, who finds value in the artifacts of the Louvre and only Snowbébé who responds to art’s seductive power. If you can get on its unusual arty and tragic wavelength, however, there's a serious chance that this could be one of the most rewarding new manga releases that you'll read all year. Painstaking effort is made to recreate the environs and the contents of the Louvre -- it’s clear from the deeply detailed recreations of the art on display and the Louvre’s grounds that Matsutomo is intimately familiar with the museum and spared himself no trouble capturing its unique grandeur -- and time is devoted to chronicling the lives of a human cast -- the tour guide Cecile, the nightwatchmen Patrick and Marcel, the preservationist Monsieur de Montvalon and Arrieta, Marcel’s long-missing sister-- but these elements exists less for their own ends than to facilitate and underscore the misadventures of the book’s titular tabbies. crossover anime between Overlord and The Eminence in Shadow originally announced as an April Fool's joke earlier this year?

Mysterious happenings are afoot in the night time hours at the world-renowned Louvre museum in Paris. Much attention is paid to drawing the museum's elaborate architecture, and the paintings within are effectively reproduced in simplified comic form. The manga itself plays with this notion by going back and forth between drawing the cats as felines and as humans with a few cat features; it deliberately seems to be blurring the lines between our perception of reality and someone else's.It is thanks to this art that we get to experience not only the emotions of one character, but of every single one inside the panel, as well as the overall emotion that the situation evokes in us, making some of the moments that more relatable. Interactions between the characters give us the insight into some of the inner struggles and demons, harsh reality and cruelties some of them went through, but also remind us of kindness and sacrifice, and how someone can change for the sake of someone else. A melancholy manga merging the every day lives of homeless alley cats with a surrealistic magical realism tale of paintings coming to life at night.

Haunting and touching, with a bit of nostalgia and adventure reminiscent for me of The Invention of Hugo Cabret. And if you mistakenly openly the book as you "normally" would, you'll very quickly notice something's amiss. Matsumoto uses his own unique style in the most brilliant way, the drawings and atmosphere are beautiful and fascinating, and of course quite sad. They are all relatable, all too relatable, and it is hard not to find a little bit of yourself in the characters. Also - and here's where the judgements should come in - I think this is the very first Manga I've read right-to-left.
