First created to mark the 1953 coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Royal Salute specialises in stunningly good blends, marrying silky smoothness with a huge range of rich flavours. Visitors from all over the world visit our four brand homes in Speyside and Orkney, where we proudly showcase our magnificent distilleries and prestigious brand experiences. I wanted to mark this memorable occasion with a blend that was as iconic and special as the original Royal Salute 21 Year Old Signature Blend that was created in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. A top of the range blended Scotch whisky from the Royal Salute range, the 62 Gun Salute is made exclusively with whiskies which have been aged for at least 40 years. Spread across 27 sites from Orkney to Plymouth, we make up a community of around 1,800 people who care about one another as much as they care about the whiskies they create.

It wasn't until the 1850's that they saw an opportunity to create a style of whiskey using combining soft grain Whiskey and robust single malts to create balanced and smooth blend scotch whiskies. The pinnacle of Scotch whisky, award-winning Royal Salute was first created to mark the 1953 coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. It was decided that Royal Salute should kick off with a 21-year-old, made using whiskies laid down in the 1920s and ‘30s. Royal Salute was launched by Chivas Brothers on 2 June 1953 in tribute to Queen Elizabeth II on the day of her coronation as a luxury Scotch whisky brand. Strathisla distillery is the oldest continuously operating distillery in the Scottish Highlands and boasts an extraordinary archive of liquid history in the form of many rare and opulent whiskies.Named after the ceremonial 21-gun salute that is fired from the Tower of London to mark special royal occasions, Royal Salute whiskies are aged for a minimum of 21 years, [4] making it the only Scotch to begin its collection at exclusively 21 years-old. Aged for a minimum of 21 years, it’s a smooth and silky spirit housed in a handcrafted Wade glass bottle (each one takes 5-6 days to finish).

Its spiritual home of the brand is Strathisla in Keith, and select casks have been put aside in the Royal Salute Vault atthe distillery to mark future celebrations.Numerous other bottlings such as the 62 Gun Salute, the Royal Salute 38 Year Old - Stone of Destiny and the Royal Salute 32 Year Old - Union of the Crowns have also been released to champion aspects of regality, always stunningly presented and containing the most opulent of blends.

The only one of its kind, it is blended with more than 21 precious single malts from all five regions of Scotland, each matured for a minimum of 21 years. In keeping with Royal Salute’s signature style, the decanter is presented in a stunning wooden box inspired by the iconic Westminster Abbey, with details intricately chiselled into the wood, paying tribute to the historic setting of British Coronation ceremonies since 1066. By looking for the unique bottle identifier, date and time of bottling on the reverse of the flagon. This exceptionally rich and complex master blend is aged for 21 years in oak casks before being bottled in porcelain flagons. I had another glass and for me, wanting a second glass, is always the double-check to see if my rating is correct.A fruity, smokey and floral nose greets the drinker, before notes of chocolate, dried fruits, caramel and toasted oak wash over the palate. mid-Mar to mid-Nov), 10am (Jan to mid-Mar) to 2pm (Jan to mid-Mar, closed noon-1pm), 5pm (mid-Mar to mid-Nov) Saturday 9. The Royal Salute 32 Year Old Union of the Crowns is unfortunately a limited release from Chivas Brothers, because this blended Scotch makes one heck of an interesting dram. With so many stately bottlings available right here, the only trouble you’ll have is deciding where you should begin!

The Age Collection II features 10 even rarer blends, with superb whiskies ranging from 25-year-old to an astonishing 55-year-old. First created as a gift for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the day of her Coronation in 1953, Royal Salute, the master of exceptional aged Scotch whisky, marks the start of a new era of contemporary monarchy with a precious limited-edition expression, the Royal Salute Coronation of King Charles III Edition.
