I knew K was arguably the greatest college coach of all time, but man did Oconnor really bring out his genius. And while, in my mind, reading a book written by one of the greatest coaches of all time seems like a great idea, college hoops fans weren’t as happy (he was born in Chicago, for what it’s worth! Things take a grim turn moments later in The Bear season 2 when Carmy gets locked in the walk-in freezer. O'Connor is right to include this stuff as it's part of the story, but if there's supposed to be some smoking gun here, I failed to see it. Content was taken from 200 or people and from other books, interviews and speeches coach k delivered.

His story is incredible, from his time at west point playing for the legendary bobby knight, to his job coaching army, to becoming the Duke head coach.It turns out the note was given to someone else and was ultimately passed along to Krzyzewski, and we learn its contents. Anyone who enjoys sports will be swept away by this measured look at Coach K’s legendary life and career. After making several references to Coach K's book, The Bearseason 2 finally makes it a significant part of its storyline when Sydney and her kitchen staff make " the greatest comeback of all time. Then, there is some stuff in there regarding the difficult relationship between Duke and the people of Durham, which, frankly, I understand (cue: wealthy white students, Black service personnel) - and I say that as someone whose American alma mater is in the Midwest and still seemed less white. The book isn't very good and if Duke loses tonight it would have been anticlimactic to keep going yet I probably wouldn't have DNF'd it, still hoping for some fascinating revelation which would never come.
