Five singles have been released from the album so far: "Pretty Boy", "Easy Now", "Dead to the World", "Open the Door, See What You Find" and the title track "Council Skies". Marr appears on three tracks over the course of Council Skies, including the first single, “ Pretty Boy.

The disco rock moves of Black Star Dancing and This Is The Place were a bit like someone deciding to put on a Hawaiian shirt that didn’t really suit them. The video stars Milly Alcock, who recently starred as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in the HBO series House Of The Dragon plus a cameo from Noel himself.

The days of his audience listening to tunes that they “won’t give a shit about” could be about to end – these songs bridge the gap splendidly. The artwork, shot by renowned Manchester photographer Kevin Cummins, sees Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ live equipment set up in the original centre spot of what was Maine Road Football Stadium. Advance warning that this iffy period might be over came last year with the release of the demos of two songs from Council Skies: the strident guitar pop of We’re Gonna Get There In The End and the almost Champagne Supernova-esque Trying To Find A World That’s Been And Gone. Top of the Pops on TV transformed your Thursday night into this fantasy world, and that’s what I think music should be. was strummy ballad Dead In The Water, recorded live in a Dublin radio studio and hidden away as a bonus track, like a slightly shameful secret, after his experiments with glammy stomp and trip-hop. When discussing the album title, Gallagher said "The title comes from a book by the artist Pete McKee.

Council Skies takes its title from a book by the artist Pete McKee and reflects the album's theme of youthful ambition, as Noel explains. The album's cover photo is shot by Mancunian photographer Kevin Cummins, with the band's live equipment set up on the original centre spot of where Maine Road Football Stadium once stood. Council Skies, named after a book by illustrator and Noel’s friend Pete McKee, finds Gallagher reminiscing about his adolescence in Manchester before he and his brother and their band moved to London and hit it big at the dawn of the Britpop era.Gallagher began demoing the album in late 2021 with sessions commencing at Lone Star Studios in January 2022. If the Gallaghers did miraculously patch things up at short notice, Noel’s solo project already has the perfect comeback track: Easy Now, the centrepiece of the outfit’s fourth album, is a vintage patchwork of lump-in-throat melodies, sleazy riffs, sentimental lyrics and a big galumphing chorus just begging to be bellowed into the cold black night. The artwork is taken by Kevin Cummins and features the band's live equipment set up on the original centre spot of where Manchester City's Maine Road football stadium once stood. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalised rating out of 100 to reviews from publications, the album received an average score of 81 based on 11 reviews, indicating "universal acclaim". Council Skies’ opens an introspective and personal commentary on Noel’s most formative years, and the wider themes of the forthcoming album.
