Description

It takes the system through various predefined scenarios, like moving around files, browsing the internet, editing pictures, video conferencing etc. But more impressive than that was the 17% performance boost seen at 1440p when looking at the 1% lows with a 12% boost to the average frame rate. The benefits are more apparent in CPU-limited scenarios, such as you might find when you’re looking for high frame rates with a high refresh rate screen. In total, we have nine 32GB memory kits from the Vengeance LPX, Vengeance RGB RT, Vengeance RGB Pro and Dominator Platinum RGB series, covering DDR speeds from 2400 right up to 6200. In the months ahead, we're hoping that such a kit won't cost a lot more than a decent DDR4-3600 kit does today.

G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series (Intel XMP 3.0) DDR5 RAM 32GB

DDR5 memory has arrived featuring better performance, greater stability and improved efficiency over DDR4. All product specifications reflect internal test results and are subject to variations by user’s system configuration. So if you have weak memory bandwidth coupled with weak latency performance, performance overall is going to tank and we see that with the DDR4-2400 kit using the gear 2 mode, which was the default for this configuration.

But most interesting of these results is 7-Zip, with that huge file compressing more than 20% faster on DDR5 than even the DDR4-4000 result. In fact, Longsys' test platform is based on an Alder Lake-S chip with eight cores that operate with an 800 MHz base clock speed. The Team kit almost completely overcomes that, and all but matches a DDR4-3600 C16 kit, though of course it features much greater bandwidth, which some applications clearly appreciate. A nice product by Kingston, we had to really nitpick to find one small con, which is, the refresh rate of the RGB lights. In total we spent a few weeks testing 41 games and we'll take a look at the side-by-side comparison across all those games in a second.

In the multi-core era, the unprecedented processing speed of DDR5 DRAM ensures your high-end CPU gets data quickly with ease. For those wanting to upgrade their DDR4 kits to DDR5, there are a couple of benefits that the later brings to the table. They all told us DDR5 availability would be poor, and pricing would be extreme, and they were right.DDR5-6000 memory across 41 games and found that the newer and more expensive DDR5 memory was a mere 4% faster on average, though it was up to 20% faster in a few select titles. Meanwhile, the average frame rate remained much the same, so either memory technology will allow you to squeeze the most out of an Alder Lake CPU in this game. Otherwise if your chips had to be perfect, these ultra-fine processes would never yield well enough to be usable.

Now that the HyperX brand has mutated itself into separate entity, Kingston has stuck to its Renegade line of products. Finally, we have Hitman 3, and at 1080p it's only the DDR4-2400 gear 2 configuration that noticeably drops off the pace again. This old title only utilizes a single core heavily, but we see there is some benefit to feeding that core more bandwidth as performance was boosted by 7%, almost across the board. The results there illustrate that the game's performance becomes increasingly memory-bandwidth-dependent as background images become more complex. Even at 6200, we're still looking at a latency of 63ns, which is higher than even DDR4-3200 CL16 memory. Surprisingly, Corsair’s Vengeance DDR5 RAM, running at 5200 Mt/s, inches out slightly ahead of the FURY Renegade DDR5.
