Along with Fiat 500, it shows that TLG is using submissions that did not passed review stage as their own ideas. Since we aren't privy to Lego's plans, who is to say this train stays available for 3 to 4 years before retiring and a new train is released?

And then they stopped using those altogether in favor of the brightly-colored Technic bands for all future Bionicle sets. Upload an Image in the specific color if you have one and the one in the above listing is not available. The set does not include train track and a motor, but can be motorized using the Power Functions XL motor, IR Speed remote control, IR Receiver, LED Lights and rechargeable battery box which were introduced around the same time as this set. I only have a single custom engine (out of fifty or so of the darn things) made out of reddish-brown, and the reason why is that, a month ago when I took it apart to clean and dust it, all the plates and slopes cracked and shattered.

LegoSonicBoy: if they released the set in dark blue it would have been a fantasy model, as like others have mentioned the CE 6/8 never sported a dark blue livery, nor a dark red one.

Brick Model Railroader is a news and blog site with the intention of spreading insightful ideas and techniques to all fans of Lego trains. Somewhere along the way, I came across a recommendation to swap out the first two 16-tooth gears in the gear-train for a 20-tooth and 12-tooth, yielding a 1:2.

My main reason for purchasing it will be to hopefully help demonstrate a demand for more trains in the future. I actually went back to this design as I preferred it over the others for it's reliability and comprise on speed vs torque. I admittedly tested alot of gear setups/combinations the setup I run in mine is the 13th of 27 different tested designs. Considering how short a runway it had, how heavy it is, and how not-aerodynamic it is, it did achieve a pretty remarkable distance.

As I live in North America, I’m unfamiliar with this model of locomotive but I agree that it has been represented wonderfully based on images I have seen. There always is the chance that they'll do a new Creator Expert steam engine in the same vein as the Emerald Night, but LEGO's pretty reluctant with trains so I wouldn't hold my breath. I have seen tons of amazing steam engine mocs, but haven't found any with free instructions that are similar to the Emerald Night. Also, why do people always ignore the fact that the Emerald Night was released at a time when many felt the direct aftermath of the financial crisis of 2007/2008 and/or were afraid to lose their jobs? While the car is not available for purchase separately, it has not only stickers saying "First" and "1", but also extra stickers that say "Second", "2", "Third", and "3" for people who make their own cars or get extras.

I want a brand new stream locomotive, with all the new options opened up by the range of new elements released since 2009. The remote-controlled accessories from the 12-volt system however were also abandoned, with only manual point control available and no signaling capabilities. The torso is not new, it's Alan Grant's torso, to the point that even the neck printing is skin tone and not yellow. Previous 12-volt locomotives were not compatible with the new system without modification, due to the change in voltage and means of powering the motor, although it was possible to retrofit them with 9-volt motors. This program is no longer supported, but was the inspiration for similar programs such as TrackDraw by Cary Clark (no longer supported), and BlueBrick by Alban Nanty which is still supported at the time of writing.

I am considering making some revisions to my Emerald Night that would require use of the Powered Up Large motor. volt guise, the train headlight/taillight (using unique prisms and holder bricks) and lamppost sets were normally only available with the expensive 12-volt light bricks included. Owners with a worn out red motor had no option but to replace it with a standard black one (7865) or break open the sealed unit and transplant the components. I've got similar rubber bands from the Aquazone days that are on assembled models and are fine, but any black rubber band I got in 2001 would instantly lose its sheen the first time you stretched it, and would be noticeably deteriorated by the end of the week.

In late December 2016, prominent train builder Cale Leiphart along with several others created Brick Model Railroader (BMR), which was created to replace Railbricks as a hub of the train building community.
