About this deal
Johnny Sledge Trying this after a few years using Squirt - drivetrain is quieter and it seems to last well. A - This is because of the ingredients, if your chain is black it doesn't mean it needs cleaning, it only needs cleaning if there are a lot of dirt particles stuck to the chain (this can happen if you've used too much lube) The Professional lube will last longer than you think in all weather conditions.
The downside is that the sticky nature of wet oil can attract dirt that, if left to build up, can work as a grinding paste to rapidly wear out components. Fenwicks sent me its Foaming Chain Cleaner along with a Chain Cleaning Sponge and Gear Cleaning Brush.
Well, Fenwicks All Conditions Lube comes very close indeed to being the ideal fit-and-forget chain lubricant. Additionally some of the lubes featured were also tested in conditions designed to simulate riding in the rain.
Put it this way – if you want maximum performance but minimum fuss, you'll struggle to find better than Fenwicks All Conditions Lubricant.Only been out for 2 smallish rides since applying so can't comment on longevity or performance in the wet but other reviewers suggest it's good. In recent wet conditions we found that we only needed to reapply it sparingly every 7 to 10 days when riding daily for best results. In dry, spring and summer conditions you want to use a lighter lubricant, normally a wax-based ‘dry’ lube.
