Description

In this series, he is shown to be a good abseiler, as demonstrated in the episodes Fireworks for Mandy and Pontypandy Extreme. The idea was then brought to S4C's Director of Animation, Chris Grace, who had previously commissioned SuperTed, saw potential in the idea and commissioned the series.

In Snap and Spot, it was revealed that Tom is a best friend of Krystyna Kaminski, when they were cadets and received their pilot qualifications a while ago and Krystyna also stated that it was not the first time she had pulled Tom off the side of the cliff.

It was broadcast for the first time in November 1987 on Welsh TV channel S4C and is shown in more than 155 countries across the world. In the 2005 and 2008 seasons, Trevor is no longer an auxiliary firefighter but is still the bus driver, and the spark between him and Dilys still holds strong. Fireman Sam ( Welsh: Sam Tân) is an animated children's television series about a fireman named Sam, his fellow firefighters, and other residents in the fictional Welsh rural village of Pontypandy (a portmanteau of two real towns, Pontypridd and Tonypandy). The theme song was performed by Mal Pope in a classic rock style from 1987 to 1994, then by a different singer, Cameron Stewart, in a 2000s alternative rock style since the 2003 new episode broadcasts. For the 2005 series, there was still only 1 vehicle bay, but had been revamped so Venus had a room at the back of the station.

It has a state-of-the-art control room/reception area with several computer monitors and the Map-screen system, a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) with an evidence table and a large interactive screen, a horse stable at the rear, and a custody suite with five cells; each with two beds. It was interspersed with scenes of children learning about fire safety with Gary Lewis, the actor playing Fireman Sam in the stage show. He made his debut in Castles in the Air as a replacement while Penny Morris was away for the day and whilst he was at the fire station he got Station Officer Steele confused as he thought Elvis was in two places at once. However, the characters of Tom Thomas, Moose Roberts and Bella Lasagna have their regular, respective Australian, Canadian and Italian voices (instead of being dubbed with a US voice actor), due to their characters' accents. She also appears to use malapropisms in her speech (for example, "historical" instead of "hysterical", "I'm suffering from smoke installation (inhalation)", and "I'm a very reprehensible (responsible) person, me"). Finally, in the last station, there are 4 vehicle bays (one for Jupiter, one for Venus, one for Phoenix and a large one for Mercury and Hydrus). The first five series of the show were animated in stop motion, but starting with the sixth series onwards, the show is completely animated in CGI.

In the exterior shot of Wallaby 1 in Series 5 just before it takes off, the blue beacon on top of the rotors does not flash.

Bella Lasagne is the absent-minded village café owner, hailing from Italy and has since moved to Newtown, making various visits.

As a former army officer, he insists upon a high standard of both hygiene and efficiency in the fire station. Hydrus, built and previously owned by Moose is the amphibious rescue vehicle that can be used on land and on water but not the sea, it is driven by Fireman Sam. Arnold McKinley is the new fireman introduced in the latest feature-length special "Heroes of the Storm". The original idea came about from two ex-firemen from London, England – Dave Gingell and David Jones after purchasing a stop motion animation book by artist Anthony Miller. In Series 6, Tom helps the fire brigade with emergencies more often, mostly having a few non-speaking roles, like in the episodes Poorly Penny, Three Legged Race and Danger by the Double. Phoenix is the newest vehicle at the station, it is a multi-purpose 4x4 with an extending crane for animal rescue uses. Pontypandy Train Line is a train line that runs up to Pontypadny Mountain where the Mountain Activity Center is and the Old Mines where Penny took the kids in Heroes of the Storm.
