About this deal

I'd like to advocate for one Fuji app that works for all wireless-compatible Instax cameras/printers. Unique to the mini Evo is ten integrated lens modes and ten film effect filter options that offer 100 different combinations for photographers to express themselves and create one-off, unique shots. A dotted display at the bottom of the screen shows how many prints you’ve got left in your film pack. From the app you can perform a number of useful functions, including taking remote control of the camera (useful for selfies and group shots). On my first go, I pulled the Instax Mini Evo up to my eye only to realize there is no optical viewfinder below the cold shoe or in the corner like it is in every Mini Instax camera.Rotate the lens ring and you get 10 lens effects: normal, vignette, soft focus, blur, fisheye, color shift, light leak, mirror, double exposure, and half-frame. You can also use your smartphone as a remote control and wirelessly release the camera's shutter from the INSTAX mini EVO app, which is available for iOS and Android phone.

The new instax mini Evo Smartphone App *1 that comes with the mini Evo and utilises Bluetooth *² technology adds a number of new advanced features. An instant camera for the 21st century, the Mini Evo allows you to preview your shots before you take them, tweak the exposure, add filters and flash, then print and share your shots to social media. a slightly odd position that again makes more sense when shooting in portrait rather than landscape mode. Not only do we get a shutter release button on the top plate, but also a second one on the faceplate, next to a built-in mirror for the selfie obsessed and a small lozenge shaped window housing an integral flash.

Fuji has enjoyed major success with its Instax range of cameras these past few years, arguably doing more to bring instant print photography back to the masses than the original and resurgent Polaroid brand. They're built into the film door, which is held in place with a catch that's sturdy enough not to fly open at the slightest knock. Offering the latter two devices in one compelling package and bridging the gap between the analogue and digital worlds is the Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo. Polaroid and its many revivals (Impossible and then Polaroid Originals) before it came back full circle has tried numerous ways to bring smartphone connectivity to its iconic 600-type film, but the results have been half-baked, which always left me to ignore it altogether. The Instax Mini Evo is a touch slow to switch effects so you won't be breezing through them at all, but it's not intolerable.
