I would pour tequilas side-by-side to understand the nuances in each and sling fresh watermelon margaritas like summer could never stop. It took quite a while to open up and give out some cooked agave besides the initial alcohol and astringency. Because blancos are a light style of tequila, you can sip them neat and savour their bright, grassy agave flavour.

The de Madera Reposado has been aged for 7 months in the basement of El Pandillo in the traditional, G4, very old Dickel whiskey barrels, adding sweetness to the unique depth and complex character of this tequila. Most other distilleries see this as waste and toss it in their soil, but this reduces the usable lifespan of the soil due to the sulfuric acid. Palate: cooked agave and vanilla continue to shine through mirroring the aromas with the addition of mild black pepper, soft floral notes, and rounded out with a hint of smokiness from the charred oak.

Through my travels in Mexico I’ve come to experience the ritual of the process and the heart that goes into making this spirit…knowing history to me was a more authentic way to offer options to those I was serving. With its elegant notes of dried fruit, ripe pineapple, honey and cooked agave, I recommend using a tequila glass or a champagne flute to truly take in the expression’s bold flavors and luxurious taste. Does not have that bold flavor other reposados have, but I don’t think you can find a cleaner, smoother tasting reposado anywhere.G4 is crafted by Felipe Camarena, who is one of Mexico’s top Tequila distillers, along with his brother Carlos.

Even so, my palate detects an underlying degree of alkaline softness that I've never experienced before.
