About this deal

While in captivity, Rip gets dangerously close to Auren, threatening to reveal her secret that must be protected at all costs. Now I’m here, a prisoner of Fourth Kingdom’s army, and I’m not sure if I’m going to make it out of this in one piece. Please note: There is explicit language and romance in this book, not suitable for those under the age of 18. The designer tweaks features on well-known apps as part of a daily side project, from previewing your Hinge date in AR to nepotism disclosures on LinkedIn. Glint is the second book in Raven Kennedy's The Plated Prisoner series, and while having a few different POV's, mostly centers on Auren, King Midas's favored saddle, the one he has gold-touched, as she navigates being prisoner to the fourth kingdom.

Just like the first book, she captivates me every step of the way; whenever I take a break from reading, I can't wait to jump back in and continue from where I left off 📖💕! All she wants is to get back to her beloved King, but as time trickles by, Auren learns more about the fourth kingdom's army, and they aren't the monsters she was told about.

The characters are brought to life with complexity and depth, and we experience their internal conflicts and emotions up close. We don’t get much from Midas in this one, but I will say, even though I’m really really starting to actively hate him, I’m also actually so interested in the WTF is up with him! These are interspersed with statuesque portraits of the human form, at once channelling sculptures of ancient deities and toying with gender boundaries. But Rip is more than just a commander - he is a Fae, a magical being whose existence has long been forgotten in legends and believed by no one. This book picks up where the last one left off and I won’t explain the storyline too much as I don’t want to spoil it.

Also in the first book I meant to leave a review but haven’t her but I was so pleasantly surprised to figure out it included fae I was confused at first but now I like how the author unraveled it!The book offers a playful take on traditional fashion photography and iconic images with unexpected details, often nudity.

Rip wants to see the sparkle of life she has and for her to show what kind of fight she has left in her. I wish anyone from Auren's life actually felt sorry for her instead of hating her for being "the favorite" like at least they had some freedom. In one image, seemingly portraying a mother lost in thought while holding a baby, the cable of the release is coiled across the frame like a landline phone cord. Through her detailed and powerful language, these moments become a true experience that takes our breath away and touches our senses. Also, I have no idea what’s going on with Midas’ queen, but I love reading from the POV of a wronged b*tch set on revenge, so I don’t even mind going over to see what she’s up to!

And as if that weren't cruel enough, our minds make sure we relive those moments again and again and again, long after they've passed. I spent the whole book SURE of it, stumbled a little bit when Commander Rip and King Rot were in the same room (but held on to the small details that made me think Rip was a decoy), but the confirmation at the very end? I kind of liked that queen Malina is trying to get rid of Midas because who wouldn't with a husband like that? Leading the army is Commander Rip, a notorious warrior whose name is whispered in taverns and street corners all over the six kingdoms.

I have fought the terrifying Red Raid Pirates, endured the murder of those I care about, and survived the frozen planes of Orea, only to find myself a prisoner of the army of Fourth Kingdom. The way this book ends, it gives her another chance to make some rights, BUT, I totally get her feelings of betrayal on both sides of the coin.
