Witnessing him tackle the confusion of first loves and pure joy alongside the occasional unexplainable sadness was really comforting. I first read this series when I was around 14 years old and struggling with my mental health, and in a lot of ways (as bad as that is) I reflect myself with Punpun's character. Asano's Japan, a land of two-story houses, blindingly white skies crisscrossed by cables and wires, quiet sunny streets and Brutalist-looking industrial plants, there's something lurking inside every building; some latent form of insanity is seething beneath the skin of all the adults Punpun and his friends happen to come across. Todavía no comprendo el salto de Solanin a Punpun (junto con El fin del mundo y antes del amanecer), pero es algo que existe y me hace muy feliz. Much like Solanin, Punpun lets its dialogue do the talking, many panels broken up by three panels with just words over a black background. Most importantly, Asano is a master at depicting the joys and triumphs, as well as the anxieties and tragedies, of growing up.Goodnight Punpun centres around Punpun, an idealist and a hopeless romantic depicted as a little caricatured bird throughout the most of the series.

Ali da ću u budućnosti dati šansu još ponekom stripu sigurno hoću jer sad ih već posmatram drugačije. It’s not a story that’ll appeal to everyone, the idea of it is abstract and peculiar to some people, but I know others, including myself, were absolutely astonished by this manga. The tale follows his life and the people around him, his transition into adulthood and his love life. The characters are all very unique looking from each other in the way they designed from their faces to body types, and everyone is incredibly expressive in their body language; especially the oddball adults (like the teacher who throws a huge fit at one point).Die großen Umbrüche, die häufig auch mit den Seitenumbrüchen korrelieren, haben natürlich etwas von ihrer Wucht verloren, dennoch bleibe ich bei meiner Meinung, daß PUNPUN einer der schönsten und am liebevollsten gestalteten Mangas ist, die ich kenne.
