About this deal

Reuters, the news and media division of Thomson Reuters, is the world’s largest multimedia news provider, reaching billions of people worldwide every day. Is that a direct benefit of having two experienced F1 drivers in Kevin Magnusson and Nico Hülkenberg – after Steiner jettisoned Mick Schumacher, amid some acrimony, at the end of last season? Its always so interesting to get insight in what the paddock looks like but to be in the mind of the glorious Guenther Steiner was and how difficult his job is and how well he manages to be both a comedian team manager and general super star.

Kevin Magnussen (left) sits on Max Verstappen’s tail at the Miami Grand Prix last month, with Nico Hülkenberg in the background. Steiner intersperses some of the more humdrum days at grands prix with tales from his rallying years—his experience of a Dakar Rally disaster is extraordinary—his bafflement at the fame that his Haas role and DTS popularity has brought, as well as how he balances family life with 10 months of the year on the road. Earlier this year Steiner, a 58-year-old Italian who sounds as if he should be German, released a funny and revealing book, Surviving to Drive, which is a diary of last season. The writing style was really good and conversational which helped me to picture Guenther talking it through, it also really brought out his brilliant personality.Even those who have never watched the show (like Steiner himself, or so he claims) will warm to the engaging boss of Haas. I want to know in that instance what do you say to your driver who had no practice time, how to you go to your mechanics but nothings. Even so, despite the author’s much stressed straight-talking shtick, you sense he isn’t as reckless as he puts across. Written in Steiner’s voice the stylized ‘fok’ and ‘jeezos’ can become a little grating through the course of the year, but conversely it does add to the individualistic aura of the book and remind you this is Steiner and no one else. After announcing Mick’s departure, Steiner reveals his admiration at how Mick has handled the pressure of a surname before quipping “his entourage and supporters, perhaps not so much.

S.-owned Haas, who finished eighth in 2022 and now have Dallas-based MoneyGram as title sponsor, was also of commercial benefit. In Surviving to Drive, the Haas team principal takes readers inside his Formula 1 team for the entirety of the 2022 season, giving an unobstructed view of what really takes place behind the scenes.Guenther Steiner has been the unlikely breakout star of the show and this book aims to cement his celebrity via a diary-style romp through the 2022 season. Wether you just started watching or have been following it for all of your life, this book will show you F1 from a different perspective not yet seen before. He is the current team principal of the Haas Formula 1 Team, and the previous managing director of Jaguar Racing and technical operations director of its subsequent incarnation, Red Bull Racing…. Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner’s popularity skyrocketed after Formula 1’s Drive to Survive docuseries on Netflix, which Steiner says he has still never watched.
