About this deal

Our thick cut British Potato chips are hand-cooked in Devon, with real taste, proper crunch, and made by real people. Apparently flavour specialists spent six months creating the crisps, which is probably how long it will take me to forget that stench. But Guinness crisps, available now in Selfridges and Waitrose, and in Asda from next month, are far more palatable.

Having once drunk seven pints of Guinness on a school night (it really was: I had an art exam the next day), I can't really stomach the black stuff in liquid form. We’re proud to produce hand-cooked British potato chips, but we never want to just sit back and admire our handywork. We just want to make sure that every batch of hearty crunchiness is seasoned with quality and craft.

The only thing getting us out of bed this festive season is sights like this, the kind that keep inspiring our snacks so they can be savoured the country over. These genuine artisans provide us with one o’ the key ingredients for our award-winnin’ Sea Salt and Malt Vinegar potato chips. There’s only one chip substantial enough to enjoy during the rugby and that’s our thick cut, hand cooked potato chips with lashings of Guinness. Doritos (which, as Tim Hayward has previously observed on this blog, are the crack cocaine of cheese-flavoured corn snacks) and, perhaps my favourite, Mini Cheddars. It’s been over 200 years since this family favourite was born and, as Guinness moves forward, it’s safe to say history accompanies us in every bottle still enjoyed by people all over the world. We take people as we find ‘em down here and we never judge a book by its cover (probably because we don’t have much time to read). At less than 100 cals per 20g, our oh-so-tasty new Lentil Chips are the perfect ‘I’ll-be-good-this-year’ snack. Our snacks might look a little rough around the edges, but that doesn’t mean they’re not skilfully produced. But, if you grew up back when scratchings were gnarled, bone-hard chunks of crusted salt and hair crammed into tiny greasy packets, it is difficult to get past that association. I say this as someone who has enjoyed the occasional packet of Burts, but I'm flummoxed as to how it thinks that this crisp mimics the "bitter sweet flavour of this iconic Irish stout".
