Description

Lisanne Falk, who played Heather McNamara, had just graduated from high school when she auditioned for Heathers. Winona Ryder, who was 16 at the time of filming and badly wanted the part, begged Waters to cast her as Veronica, even offering to work for free. The series was set to premiere on March 7, 2018, [67] but on February 28, 2018, it was announced that the premiere would be delayed in light of the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. heathers' director michael lehmann dissects the film's lasting influence as it celebrates its 30th anniversary".

The plot sees 17-year-old Veronica (Winona Ryder) turning against her three alpha mean girl pals – all named Heather; all wearing shoulder-pads – and accidentally falling in with murderous new kid JD (Christian Slater).

Because it had this lame dorky picture of Winona and Christian hugging on the cover, no one would check the rating. Some reviewers have discussed similarities between Heathers and Massacre at Central High, a low-budget 1976 film. That's all the more appropriate when one considers that Heathers was conceived as a Kubrick project. The only note that Waters and director Michael Lehmann received back from the studio was that Slater wasn't demonic enough during his last scene. In this new version, which is now expected to land with one of the streaming sites, Heather McNamara (originally played by Lisanne Falk) is now portrayed by Jasmine Mathews and is written as a black lesbian.

When the cast first viewed the film, Doherty ran out crying because she realized the film was a dark comedy and not the drama she was expecting. I know a lot of people wanted it to be the off-Broadway production, but I actually think the design and direction of the West End version is much stronger. A contemporaneous portrait of Slater in Rolling Stone magazine noted that the actor "seems to have learned to talk by watching Jack Nicholson movies". Overall: this may not please fans of the original movie, but it's campy fun and a well-produced proshot. The film uses two versions of the song " Que Sera, Sera", the first by singer Syd Straw and another over the end credits by Sly and the Family Stone.Heathers foreshadows the fall of the Soviet Union; that’s why Veronica wears something blue in every scene.
