Hisense 65U7K review: an enjoyable mid-range Mini LED | What

The hope is, of course, that the Mini LED and local dimming light controls will enable the screen to deliver more brightness and contrast than regular LED TVs. You also want a set that handles all the available HDR formats, Dolby and dts audio as well as at least two HDMI 2. Smooth and Standard Ultra Smooth Motion settings serve up the subtlest performance, though the Film works well for movies. The 25% window is the brightest of them all and this also points to issues with over brightening of the HDR image that introduces other issues with clipping. br>
Native 120Hz screen with ULED for stunning picture detail
Using a native 100/120Hz screen, the Hisense 65U7KQTUK refreshes images twice as fast as regular TVs.As Hisense’s mid-range Mini LED TV offering for 2023, the U7K sits between the flagship U8K and more affordable U6K Mini LED models. The Hisense U7K is the second tier ULED Mini LED TV in the 2023 line-up and implements a 4K LCD VA panel using Mini LED backlighting with 384 separate dimming zones and an advanced local dimming algorithm. The colour palette is extensive, the Hisense able to describe even minuscule variations in tone or shade in a naturalistic manner. Adding in motion interpolation and the U7K does look smooth, but there are also visible artefacts seen around fast-moving objects.

The only thing missing, which would make it perfect, is a backlight for watching in dim surroundings, but it is so much better already than most of the plastic remotes supplied with TVs costing many times this Hisense. uk/browse/technology/televisions-and-accessories/televisions/c:30106/brands:hisense/" on this server. Also, the intensity of the stray light is quite faint and becomes very soft and vague at its extremities.

Audio or video, it doesn’t matter; you can rely on Hisense to take any expensive new tech and democratise it. The sound the Hisense makes is quite direct, and quite directional – it doesn’t attempt to sound any bigger than the chassis from which it comes.

Which is very good news, as it means there’s no repeat of the unfortunate UK U8H situation that found it sporting a low-contrast IPS panel compared with the VA panel of its US equivalent, as well as far fewer local dimming zones. We would have liked a little more control in the CMS, but overall, the calibrated performance was very good. interface is very plain but hits the basics with access to 4K streaming apps in Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube and Rakuten TV.It’s a sleek, long metal affair with the main buttons towards the top of the unit, with menu options and directional keys to the centre and direct VOD access keys to the bottom. standard, you also get full compatibility with VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and AMD FreeSync Premium – all of which give you the gaming edge.
