If i unplug the dock and plug it back in lots of times (20+) the external display starts showing the image. I assume it stopped working after a Windows software update as i could not open the AMD Radeon software due to a mismatch between the real driver version and the version the AMD software thought was installed. I know the display works because I can plug it into an old Windows machine DisplayPort to DisplayPort. Windows 10 S products using DisplayLink technology will get their device drivers either from OEM pre-installation or from Windows Update. I have previously been able to connect my Acer H277HK 4K(UHD) monitor as secondary monitor via the HDMI connection on the laptop.

Plugging in the USB-C connector to Macbook Pro's USB-C port will start charging the Mac but the connected displays are entirely black. And it also used to work with the exact same hardware/cables - although not very smooth as you had to switch settings back and forth for it to work. If your operating system is not listed then HP may not provide driver support for your product with that operating system. And I was even allowed to change the resolution up to the native resolution of the monitor (3840x2160px).This issue is however fixed, and I uninstalled the graphic drivers and installed the newest version.
