Looking at the battery and charging specs it's easy to see why it fails so badly at charging: it can only provide 600mA of current (3W), much less than what the phone draws while in use and much less than the typical 2000mA (10W) by a typical high-current USB charger (to say nothing of higher power USB-C PD chargers). Even with the charging function deactivated, it doesn't provide a straight "pass-through" to an externally-connected charger, and therefore prevents high-current (fast) chargers from working. Since I've removed the pack I've found that the phone's battery actually lasts about as long as it did with the juice pack connected. I got a new Palm phone and used it at home with this battery pack for 2 days before I realized that I was almost never connected to a base station. For starters, the battery life of the Palm Phone is pretty atrocious, so getting a way to be able to boost the battery life without having to plug into a wall is a huge need for this phone and this case meets that need.
