About this deal

There is some warmth towards the end and it’s here that the sake comes through to create a smooth finish. However, you can also accept or reject further cookies at any time or specify which of these cookies you would like to agree to.

The combination of English juniper berries and Japanese cheery blossom is an inspiration; more gins should have this combination! Cherry blossom, and other ingredients are now surfacing more often, especially in gin, as drinkers dig deeper into the country and cuisine’s rich heritage and diverse flavour pairings.Jinzu gin was created by Dee Davies, following a winning entry in the World Class ‘Show your Spirit’ competition where bartenders were invited to create their own liquid and brand. I am a huge gin fan but it took me a little while to understand the complexities when I first tried drinking it. The logo – a bird holding an umbrella – is both sweet and appealing, though we’re of the opinion that the packaging puts the bottle on a decidedly female trajectory.

Made by the same guys who produce the smooth tasting Chase Vodka, this gin is distilled from organic apples along with a range of 11 different botanicals; giving it a mix of traditional and more exotic flavours. Six Japanese botanicals cultivated over four seasons, carefully selected to create Roku, Japan’s authentic craft gin. It is a blend of sake and English gin consisting of juniper, coriander, angelica, yuzu, and Japanese cherry blossom. The aromas and flavours imparted by Jinzu include juniper berries, citrusy notes of coriander seeds, floral cherry blossom accents, and the orange and mandarin aromas of Yuzu Lemon. The particular sake we use I chose for its flavour profile, I wanted a sake which was strongly rice flavored. This leads to a spirit that’s aromatic, clean and crisp that works particularly well in a gin and tonic. Created by a young bartender named Dee Davies, this is an unusual fusion of East And West: a British gin inspired by the flavours of Japan. The strong wine made of rice is synonymous with Japanese culture and is exported all over the world.

The Show Your Spirit competition pitted European bartenders against each other in a bid to design a spirit that could join Diageo’s Reserve Brands portfolio.Moonshot Gin from That Boutique-y Gin Company is made solely with botanicals that have been sent to space. Jinzu gin was created by British bartender Dee Davies, inspired by her journey to Japan and a lifelong passion for experimenting with flavours. An Australian launch is planned for later this year and we could see the gin going down well in luxury Asian markets, as it fuses both cultures with relative ease. One of the first gins to be distilled in Kent since the 1800s, Anno was launched at the end of 2013 by three scientists.

Jinzu Gin, a compound gin with juniper and sake distillate, is the brainchild of bartender Dee Davies, who entered her concept into the Diageo's Show Your Spirit competition of 2013. With its white ceramic bottle and art nouveau-inspired label, this Scottish gin from Dunnet Bay Distillery certainly stands out from the crowd. If you think that Bloom sounds sweet then this twist on the classic Beefeater Gin might not be for you, but if you are looking for a gin with a bit of depth and richness, this is one to add to your collection. When you subscribe to our VIP Club you’ll receive your exclusive surprise bottle in the middle of the month.

Next are the Japanese botanicals, yuzu citrus and cherry blossom, these are distilled up to approximately 82% ABV.
