About this deal

You can feel the labor in the meticulous hatching that covers bedsheets, white coats and long hallways, to say nothing of the big moments - as the stories in this book proceed, Itō's environments become more and more oppressive in their hand-detailing of cracks and shadows, his character faces less clean, bags growing heavy under their eyes, like they can tell what's coming. Much of his work is based solely in them, with other themes including a relationship of predator to prey, a loss of humanity, and obsession being common.

Junji Ito ( Japanese: 伊藤 潤二, Hepburn: Itō Junji, born July 31, 1963) is a Japanese horror manga artist. One of them is Futon, a story in which a couple move into a new home and the husband sees demons everywhere, so he hides underneath the futon. But as lively and gruesome as these stories can be, and as witty and self-deprecating as their artist comes across in his commentaries, there is a sadness in this book that accrues from all the doom sagas that Itō has selected. While Venus in the Blind Spot collects various stories, there's enough material in this Junji Ito story to get it's own entry. Ito is skilled at tapping into the many things that scare us while also providing a certain level of entertainment.Gyo was influenced by his childhood anti-war feelings, due to his parents' tragic and frightening war stories, and the shark attack scenes from Jaws. This is another short story (found as a bonus chapter in Gyo) that lacks the quintessential body horror stamp of Junji Ito. Fuchi, as this very old-school Itō fansite points out, is one of the artist's recurring characters, obliterating those she deems disrespectful to her professionalism. The Devil's Logic focuses on suicide, peer pressure, and how sometimes death can come from unexpected places.

Collects: The Supernatural Transfer Student, Groaning Drain Pipes, Blood-Bubble Bushes, The Hanging Balloons, Marionette Mansion, Flesh-Colored Horror, Near Miss! Junji Ito was born on July 31, 1963, in Sakashita, a town located in Ena District, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, and grew up in a small city near Nagano. Ito studied and graduated from a vocational school with a degree in Dental Technology before working as a dental technician, where he worked for 3 years until he became a full-time mangaka.Ito felt strange that a boy he knew suddenly disappeared from the world, and he kept expecting the boy to show up again; from this came the idea of a girl who is supposed to have died but then just shows up as if nothing had happened. From lesser-known creations like Shiver to the iconic Uzumaki, Junji Ito has made a name for himself as a manga horror icon. While he's eventually captured and turned in to the police, Mariko is killed by the insane admirers who believe her to be an alien. This may count as more mundane horror, as it turns out that Mariko's father has been putting chips in people's brains that make Mariko invisible upon seeing her.

A recent earthquake has shifted the earth and raised a long strip of rock at the base of a mountain. From there, he expands on these little sparks and turns them into wildfires of deadly and terrifying proportions. His stories often begin in normality, descend into madness of a supernatural, monstrous kind, and are never resolved, leaving the shivers running up and down your spine long after the story ends.
