Ok that's a solution but why doesn't kampa have an integral battery in the pump knowing you have to have a direct 12v feed to power it? I am a relatively fit 64 year old and I inflate ours just once at the start of a trip and have never felt the need to electrify the process. My thoughts are though, shouldn't the manufacturers pump (who designed the awning ) be the better product or a least DO the job on a par with yours? Follow the Caravan and Motorhome Club via our official Facebook page for latest news, holiday ideas, events, activities and special offers.

I would very much doubt they would have replaced it with the Gale until they were satisfied the Gale was a much better piece of kit. Caravan and Motorhome Club is a trading name of The Caravan Club Limited, registered in England and Wales no.Bought a gale pump earlier this year, only used it a couple of times and all is ok, tend to stand it on one of our awning tiles as that does quieten it down a bit, also as Vango thought it was a great idea to put the valves on the inside of the awning that also helps to eliminate some of the noise! It does get it to a higher pressure than I can normally do manually and, having an auto cutout guage fitted, is better in that respect. Connecting the hose to the inflation point first then attempting to connect hose-to-pump sometimes I think it would be easier to rotate the entire awning! There is ample cable to run from a standard 12v vehicle socket and the pressure limit setting is easy to use. We keep it because we are told it will go to a higher pressure if it's windy so the poles will be more stable .

To use the Kampa Gale pump, simply plug the 12V Cigarette Plug into your 12V socket on your car, set it to the required PSI pressure, hit go and sit back and watch your tent or awning erect itself. I have the greatest of difficulties trying to connect to the inflation point with the hose already connected to the 'Gale'. Just wondering if any "more mature" caravanners here use an electric pump or manage with a manual pump. I managed to "redesign" the Sevylor fitting on the high pressure hose and it fits snugly into the inflation socket on the awning so I can just let it do it's thing. We have a Kampa 420 Air, which we have used a few times and it's been quite quick to inflate using a Ryobi Cordless Inflator to start it off and then finished off with the hand pump.I believe this pump has now been around for about 12 months and am looking for any feedback on its use (speed, reliability, etc) Had the Kampa Breeze which packed up after 13 months and 3 x use. The information I was given by the dealer is that the Breeze was not made by Kampa but made in China and licenced to use the Kampa name, whereas the Gale is manufactured by Kampa.
