The performance is stable even under sustained workloads and overall it is slightly ahead of the competing Core i7-11800H, even though you will not notice any differences in practice. He was an editor for PC Magazine back when it was a print publication, and spent many years with CNET, where he led its coverage of laptop and desktop computers. That’s changing with the 2021 Lenovo Legion 5 update and especially the brand-new Legion 5 Pro, a beefier iteration with more powerful specs and a quad-fan thermal design to match them. However, despite the Ryzen 7 and RTX 3070, the designers didn't quite succeed in giving justice to the example from the comics. The Lenovo Legion 5 15 is an affordable gaming laptop, which does not offer gimmicks like comprehensive illumination, but it focuses on the core components.

The laptop is fairly quiet during routine Windows work, but the fans crank up when running 3D games and media editing apps. This behavior is very annoying and could only be prevented by deactivating the hybrid mode in Lenovo’s Vantage app and therefore avoid the integrated AMD iGPU. Competitive, within 5-7% of the higher-tier Ryzen 9 implementations such as the Legion 7 or ROG G15 Advantage. The Legion 5 Pro is a tempting alternative if you'd like something a bit less flashy but more offbeat and muscular for the money. The hinges look shiny at first, but as one user pointed out in my Legion 5 15” review, it’s because they are coated in plastic film. It's centered below the keyboard, making it look offset to the left when you consider the number pad. And here’s how this 2021 Legion 5 fares in the Cinebench R15 loop test on the Performance, Balanced and Quiet profiles. As expected, the Legion 5 15 does not support Thunderbolt, but you get all the other important ports. The 2022 model has one more USB-C port along the left edge for three total whereas the 2021 model only has two. There are just two potential problems: you may find the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro a bit dull if you'd choose to put RGB lighting into your toaster; the touchpad is a weak point too - it's a plastic pad that doesn't match up to the quality of the other parts.
