In 1902, the Corn Products Refining Company introduced clear, bottled corn syrup under the brand name of Karo Syrup. Before rushing out and using it for all your recipes though, be aware that it has a distinctively different taste and color than corn syrup. When looking for a substitute, the two key things to consider are how will the substitute change the flavor or texture of the final product.
