It was a rainy day and I had to rely on the Urban Assault to transport my laptop dryly, as my other commuter bag was not even close to waterproof. The bag is comfortable up until a point and the weight can be shifted in small degrees, but the length and flatness of the back did leave my shoulders feeling worn at the end of a day. However, despite drenching it completely, the zippers and fabric did an amazing job at keeping things dry. Wow it's comfortable I purchased this pack in the black colorway about a month ago and took it on a two-week family trip, as well as a visit to the library.

Generally: this bag does enough right to make it good, without going so far overboard that the bag forces itself to a niche user base. I don't think I need the capacity of the 2DAP, but really like the extra organization offered like the more flexible external water bottle pockets and the extra lid pocket. Whenever I get a new backpack, I tend to wear it every single day until it gets ruined beyond repair.

Overall, I think it would be fine for short, 20-minute or less commutes, but much longer and you will get some discomfort. Medium backpacks are suitable for single day hikes or camping - to carry winter jacket when hiking; or your own sleeping bag and mat when camping. Our only wish is for some elastic keepers to manage the excess strap, but it’s not a deal-breaker by any means. There is padding that is covered with mesh material on the outside of this plastic piece that would separate it from the wearer.

It added both of the features I’d been wishing for the Coulee, but unfortunately it doesn’t have the two additional exterior pockets which the Coulee has and I find very useful.
