The base unit for the T10 is one of the biggest we’ve seen for a robot vacuum, and you’ll want to make sure that there’s enough space for it wherever it’s being set up. The brush module detaches from the bottom of the vacuum so you can attach the mop pads to its motorized spindles. It uses a copy of the map you created during the first vacuuming operation, so you can mark a distinct set of no-go zones for area rugs or rooms with carpeted floors that you don’t want to get wet. You can have a “study,” but not a home office; and you can have a “living room” but not a home theater, great room, or rumpus room. When you do this in the app, you’ll discover that there are just 12 names to choose from—you can’t create custom names or change any of the presets.

A hot air drying system also saves the Narwal from the funk our S7 MaxV Ultra encountered by drying the mop heads, so they don’t sit around wet. While I know some people must have the latest invention, I feel that Narwal wouldn’t make sense for people living in studios or small one bedrooms – unless cleaning floors is the bane of your existence like me. Even after a cleaning in the base station, the pads were still quite dirty, so you’ll want to make sure that the pads are properly cleaned every few cycles. Smart assistant integration is also missing here, which we’re hoping will come with a future app update. The Narwal T10 has massive water tanks that are easy to maintain, and does a good job of mopping up any space in your home.

There are settings for either vacuuming and then mopping or simultaneous vacuuming and mopping---as well as just one or the other. What’s more, there’s two massive tanks here – one for clean and one for dirty water, making the T10’s massive base station a huge plus point. Instructions: Fill the clean water tank to Maximum Watermarking, then add a detergent sheet that will dissolve. Across my kitchen's hardwood floor, the Freo vacuum was able to clean chip pieces in a single pass of the room after I had purposefully sprinkled the bits on the ground.

Also, Freo can adjust the pressure and wetness for different floor types: Wood floor [7N + Dry], Hard floor [12N + Normal]. It launched the “world’s first self-cleaning robot mop and vacuum” on Kickstarter in 2019, and defied all odds by not only delivering a product, but a pretty good one. Without push notifications to proactively let you know when this happens, I never felt like I could fully trust the Narwal to do its job in the background. The tanks are durable and easy to take out, and can be cleaned or refilled without any complications.You can name your master bedroom as such, but you can have only one other bedroom, and it will be labeled “secondary bedroom” or “children room. Though cleaning power is important, the X8's ability to navigate the home is the real convenience here. Our bottom-line score hasn’t changed, because for all of the great features this hybrid robot mop/vac has to offer, it’s held down by a craptastic app.
