About this deal

The Sentinel: Reacher ends up in a town near Pleasantville, Tennessee that is anything but pleasant. He is a large man – extremely large and ominous – weighing between 220 and 250 pounds and standing 6 and a half feet tall. The Midnight Line: Reacher makes his way to small Wisconsin town where he notices a class ring for West Point in the window.

No Plan B: The unputdownable new Jack Reacher - WHSmith

Some of the acclaim attached to this book includes USA today who stated the “indomitable Reacher burns up the pages. i find the need to describe everything in the smallest detail distracting, if reacher fell off a kerb it would now be described down to the percentage of sand, aggregate and cement and possibly where it was manufactured, adds nothing to the story line but fills some pages and i guess that where we are with these books now ! Unless Andrew goes back to the formula that worked for over 20 best sellers, I think I am done trying. I am not keen on the idea of having two authors, regardless of who the second one is doing Reacher books. I thought Dolph Lundgren in his youth would have worked, but I like Schreiber better for my pre-conceived notion of Jack Reacher. It’s another step in the right direction toward restoring the Jack Reacher franchise to its former glory.

But Reacher is unaware that these crimes are part of something much larger and more far-reaching: an arsonist out for revenge, a foster kid on the run, a cabal of powerful people involved in a secret conspiracy with many moving parts.

Of course some of the books are a little weaker but that is normal when writing about a character that in a yearly format. Reacher’s attempts at help end up turning him into a wanted man in the middle of a turf war between rival gangs.

And he sees what really happened - a man in grey hoodie and jeans, swift and silent as a shadow, pushing the victim to her death, before grabbing her bag and sauntering away. It’s easy to imagine the challenge of coming up with new ways to get Reacher, a retired military cop who drifts aimlessly across the country, into believable situations where he must use his past investigative skills and knowledge to right wrongs that the local cops either can’t or won’t address. He’ll have to fight his way out, find Turner, and clear both of their names as the Army, the FBI, the D. What she has to tell him is a story of a man they served with’s brutal death and the killer isn’t finished. I thought Chris Hemsworth would have fit the bill pretty well, but apparently the guy picked for the part, Alan Ritchson, looks the part, so hopefully he will do well. Then at the end, he becomes righteous –“I’m not going to kill anyone in cold blood”– tell that to the warden he choose to kill. He’s here to meet Major Susan Turner, the new commanding officer, who he has only spoken to on the phone. Her brother is mixed up with some dangerous people who would rather die than betray their leader, the mysterious Dendocker, but he’s the one who would know what happened to him. They all find out when they learn of a Jihadist sleeper cell in Germany that has received an unexpected visitor with a message.
