About this deal

It may not be the flashiest of soundtracks – it can’t compete with the blistering all-out attack of that big lizard, that giant ape and that Japanese city – but it’s a beautifully constructed and crafted soundtrack, with that wonderful sense of musicality a superb aural accompaniment for the equally superb visuals. James Bond (Daniel Craig) has retired from service and is trying to put a life together with his longtime love Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux). The Matera and Port Antonio settings in particular are dazzling, with vibrant color that nearly pops off the screen. Other familiar characters show up and have their time, but are not utilized in a great way, where other new characters simply exist to occupy the long run time.

So Bond is reinstated as a “Double O” and joins the new 007 (Lashana Lynch) on a desperate mission to stop this threat before all is lost. The features include a behind-the-scenes look at the epic opening sequence that was shot in Matera, in the south of Italy, with the Aston Martin DB5, one of the most iconic James Bond cars. The majority are in the Bluray format but I have bought Daniel Craig's films in 4K format, as I have upgraded my equipment to this. Whether it be production companies and movie studios arguing over rights to the 007 agent or a worldwide pandemic, James Bond has had a rough time getting to theaters.

in the latest cinema installment of the Ian Fleming-created series, this one directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga ( Jane Eyre, Beasts of No Nation). We reviewed the Region free UK Ultra HD Blu-ray release of No Time to Die on a JVC-DLA N5 Ultra HD 4K projector, a Philips 55PUS6754/12 and a Panasonic DP-UB9000 Dolby Vision HDR10 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player. Probably worth keeping if I ever decide to upgrade, but for now will have to repurchase the DVD presentation if I want to see the extras. As you’d expect from large format cinematography, the grain is light yet organic (though it’s a bit stronger in the 35 mm footage). And finally, disc compression appears to be consistent and good, with no noticeable artefacts observed – bit rates hover between 25- and 35mbps for the most part across the entire film, with the odd peak nudging 45mbps, all of which were observed with a quick scan through the film’s playback information for those that like numbers.

Other than a few other small standout performances and action scenes - No Time To Diejust doesn't make the cut. The highlight of the extras, however, is Baillie Walsh’s Being James Bond documentary, which some fans may have experienced as an Apple TV exclusive in the lead-up to the film’s release. The trouble here is that Malek's Safin doesn't show up until mid-way through the three-hour film and even then, his disfigured face and zero motive to be the bad guy does nothing for the story.

Home Entertainment's Dune (2021) topped both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts, and with assistance from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Halloween Kills, which debuted in second place . We reviewed the Region free UK Ultra HD Blu-ray release of No Time to Die on a Denon AVR4300 and a 7. The pixel density of the native 4K image also gives a solidity to the images, that together with this fine detail gives real depth and texture to the image that is essentially best-in-class – check out Bond’s visit to Vesper’s graveside at the 13 min mark for a lovely example of this depth and detail working beautifully together to give us a stunning image even on large screen sizes. From this, a 4K DI was produced and this is the basis of a stunning native 4K presentation on this release.

And here’s a nice surprise: Most of these featurettes are in actual 4K on the UHD disc—a welcome touch. and crew interviews and beautiful footage to look at the globetrotting story that unfolds in the film. But when every SPECTRE agent at the party is suddenly killed by a strange mist, and Bond and Paloma subsequently retrieve the missing scientist, it turns out that the trail of Heracles leads back to M (Ralph Finnes) in London, and to Madeline Swann, who’s been helping MI6 to study Blofeld. The picture on this film on 4K is outstanding, one of the best I've seen so far and I am rarely glad to add this to the collection.
