About this deal

Norfolk Punch is a healthy, non-alcoholic herbal drink made with 30 herbs, berries and spices and contains no artificial ingredients or flavourings. Well, we all LOVED this non-alcoholic herbal beverage so much that we were all slurping it on a daily basis……. The ingredients of original Norfolk Punch are water, dark brown sugar, honey and lemon juice combined with subtle infusions, decoctions and distillations of 30 herbs, berries and spices. I imagine that if you were serving this to some very hearty and hungry guests, that a doorstop or three of bread would not go amiss, especiallyfor essential gravy mopping. To make a relishing liquor that will keep many years, and improve by age, put the peels of thirty lemons and thirty oranges into twenty quarts of French brandy.

Recipes We are very keen to list any recipes which feature Norfolk Punch - here are a few we have already tried ourselves. The receipt appears in numerous cookbooks, starting with the ' Scots Magazine' of 1745, where "A receipt to make the Duke of Norfolk's punch" bases it on "Scots or Molasses brandy", ie. Add thereto a pint of brandy, and let it remain about six hours; then squeeze the juice of six Seville oranges and eight lemons into it. Herbal Fusions Ltd proudly took over the family business Norfolk Punch in June 2013 and once again began producing in the UK after an absence of several years. It’s a favourite one pot meal in our house, although, I did serve some steamed Savoy cabbage with this today, all buttery and seasoned with black pepper…….

It has been said, that if this Punch is bottled oft’ and well corked, it will keep in any climate, and for any length of time. Do not remove the lid during the cooking time or the dumplings will spoil, and remember that dumplings are like soufflés – they will not wait. I tend to look at your blog in the late afternoon here in Melbourne and you’d think by now I’d have learnt to have a snack handy. Norfolk Punch’s excellent pedigree and heritage speaks for itself and we have further developed the product range with the addition of a further three exciting healthy herbal drinks.

Water, Brown Sugar, Honey, Lemon Juice, Citric Acid and Potassium Sorbate combined with subtle infusions, decoctions and distillations of: Alder, Alehoof, Angelica, Bay, Chamomile, Caraway, Cinnamon, Clove, Daisy, Dandelion, Dock, Elderberry, Elderflower, Fennel Feverfew, Ginger, Grapeskin, Hops, Lemon Balm, Lime Flower, Lime Leaf, Liquorice, Meadowsweet, Nutmeg, Peppermint, Poppy, Rosemary, Samphire, Thyme, Vervain. Sure wish I could get some Norfolk Punch over here in the states–always heard of it, but never seen it here. Ingredients: Water, dark brown sugar, honey and lemon juice combined with subtle infusions, decoctions and distillations of 30 herbs, berries and spices.

That hotpot is my idea of real warming comfort food and I would serve mine with heaps of cabbage too! It was sufficiently well-known to spawn a poem, first found in Blackwood's Magazine in 1828 and reproduced elsewhere. The wide range of herbs and spices contained in Norfolk Punch are said to benefit the immune system, respiratory system and digestive system as well as many other areas of the body and mind.

The complex flavours of the herbs and spices are subtle but complement each other and are not overpowering. We all tried a glass of this herbal punch at room temperature, but itreally comes into its own when heated; w hen the punch is gently warmed in a saucepan, as a nightcap, we all found it a warming and very soothing drink. Mix them well, strain the liquor through a fine hair sieve, into a very clean cask, that has held spirits, and add two quarts of new milk. Norfolk Punch is a good, all-round healthy tonic in addition tobeing a tasty and enjoyable social drink. Yes, as you will havegleanedalready, this is not Haute Cuisine or Fine Dining, it is what it is, asimpleandtraditionalBritish hotpot and is all the better for that reason; it has no airs and graces and a tankard of ale would be more in keeping with this meal than a glass of wine.
