Description

The 2560x1440 resolution offers a nice boost over the typical 1080p resolution of monitors this fast, though at 32 inches, it’s not very sharp. It quotes response time at 1ms GtG, but this is largely meaningless, as manufacturers tend to fudge these numbers with a host of misleading techniques). There’s is a bit of wobble at the pivot point, but no more than one would expect from such a large panel. This does mean that using the standard desktop outside of gaming will take some adjustment, but we found we overcame the 'fishbowl' feeling after a few days of use.

A comfortable middle has been found on a few displays that use a 1440p resolution (or 2K as it's sometimes dubbed) with a somewhat faster refresh rate between 144-160Hz, but the Samsung Odyssey G7 manages to crank that up to a blistering 240Hz with some serious flair. At first glance, one might question such a tiny radius with a 16:9 panel but when you see this 32-inch beauty in front of you, it makes perfect sense. That sharp curve is incredible for a wrap-around view which makes you feel like you're being dragged into the games you're playing, especially in low light environments. The Odyssey G7 tops out at a 240 Hz refresh rate, which makes it equal to many other monitors on paper. All things considered, this is one of the best gaming monitors in its class, especially for anyone not looking to purchase multiple displays to cater to both high refresh rates and high resolutions. Design and FeaturesIf you’ve seen any of Samsung’s monitors from the past few years, the Odyssey G7 will look familiar. com) or a fast-paced game such as Doom and it’s mind-blowing how fast and smooth this monitor feels. It doesn’t have as many color options as typical RGB gear, and it won’t sync with the lights in your PC, but it has enough available colors that you can probably get it to match, with a few cool effects for that extra bit of flair (like breathing or rainbow).

The only thing we changed was the sharpness slider, which needed to be reduced to 56 to remove a slight ringing effect. To all that you can add a two-port USB-A hub, Samsung’s rear-mounted Core LED mood lighting and a height and tilt adjustable stand and chassis with styling and build quality that blows most PC monitors out of the water. TestingTo see if the Odyssey G7 lives up to these manufacturer-touted specs, I tested the monitor’s color performance using an X-Rite i1Display Pro with DisplayCal, as well as examining a number of Lagom’s LCD test patterns by eye. Most equivalent monitors on the market opt for somewhere in the 1500R to 1800R range, so this will potentially need to getting used to even if you have prior experience using a curved display. In this menu, you can also adjust headphone volume, set a power-off timer and control the lighting effects.
