Most of the plans were good, but I was unable to download or view any of the resources as they bwere flipchart file, which was disapponting. Oliver is a fussy eater who would only eat chips and nothing else until he plays a game with his Grandpa. When you read the story again your child could join in perhaps by being Oliver, saying eg, ‘I don’t eat vegetables. We have an array of resources and activities that go wonderfully in conjunction with the brilliant storybook.

All of these are great to use after or whilst reading the book to make sure children understand the story and its objectives.These handy story sequencing cards are great for increasing and assessing familiarity with the main events in this story as well as for starting discussions about the different key points and story structure.

For something quick you could show your child how to grow some mustard and cress from seeds and then eat the cress in a sandwich with egg or cheese. When Oliver comes to stay Grandpa comes up with an ingenious way to encourage him to try some of the vegetables.

This overall should show children the benefits of trying new foods and the importance of eating a healthy diet.
