The flavor is just loaded with sweet delicious caramelized baked agave, and the finish delivers a long and pleasant creamy vanilla treat. I’m J Highland, and for over 30 years, I’ve been deeply immersed in the captivating world of Tequila, Mezcal, and other agave spirits. This fresh and naturally sweet tequila is preserved through copper pot stills and aged in small ex-bourbon casks for at least 13 months, filling the tequila with a smooth, woody taste and a slightly sweet flavour. Recognized for its natural smoothness when sipped, but also for being the Margarita champion, a top choice tequila for margaritas by bartenders.

It appears that additives are either restrained or absent, making it an excellent choice for mixing. It is enjoyable to sip on its own but truly shines as a mixer, especially when creating Reposado cocktails. Olmeca Altos Reposado is a well-balanced Tequila with a rich agave flavor and subtle hints of vanilla and oak derived from its brief maturation in oak barrels.

Might just be how my brain interprets agave, but I’d love to think I’m actually picking something up.

This doesn't have as much of the "green" flavor the Plata has, something I could do without, but I wish the flavors were more pronounced here. A bit sharper (wrong word, but somehow it felt localized to a few areas, so sharp as in ‘concentrated and intense’, but not as in ‘burning’) alcohol feel in the mouth when holding it on the tongue than I though I got with the Don Julio. The agave is slow-cooked in brick ovens, distilled in copper pot stills and aged in ex-bourbon barrels, following centennial traditions for the purest expression of tequila. The taste of agave is not too overpowering, with some of hints of caramel and sugar cane rounding it up nicely. The palate displays intense herbal flavors that transition into spiciness and sweetness from the agave.
