To summarize, One Day With You is a heartwarming read that handles multiple themes with a deft touch. It leaves the reader with many questions that are answered and revealed little by little over the course of the book, keeping you engaged. It is told from the points of view of Tress, Max, Noah and Nancy, the bulk of the story taking place over a twenty four hour period. Nancy Jenkins, their outspoken and reliable neighbor is getting her hair done before meeting her first love at a reunion.

When I was having my Mark, the contractions stopped and started all day, and then all of a sudden, they came thick and fast and then he shot out like a can of Coke from a vending machine. This was an entirely, depressing, complex and sadly true novel, for people who know someone or have experienced the tragedies, highs and lows in their life, as such the characters do in this novel. On a mission to learn if she walked out on her ‘happy ever after’, she quits her job, her flat, her entire life, and goes off on a quest to track down all the guys that she’s ever loved.

While the world seems to be imploding all around the other characters, it seems Nancy becomes the calm for everyone, balancing everything out. Found a couple of the main characters selfish arses and another few of them a bit too understanding and 'perfect'.

She takes the worst of human nature and mixes it with a situation we’d never want to experience and then presents us with a gripping story we can’t set down. At the start of the day, no one will realise that at the end of it, their lives will never be the same again. Really enjoyed the contrast of the hospital with the events going on for the older generation around town.
