About this deal

They chopped around with oddments of text that I think should have gone somewhere else, and they felt a bit rushed. Meg can see the potential of the hotel despite it needing a bit of an upgrade, but there is doubt over whether it will have to be sold.

Do you have that one author where every time you get a new book from them it feels like you’re catching up with an old friend? One Enchanted Evening is set in the 1960s, I did love the descriptions of Nightingale Woods hotel in the beautiful countryside of Dorset.Katie Fforde lives in the beautiful Cotswold countryside with her family, and is a true country girl at heart. Go on treat yourself to a copy of this you won’t regret it, plus if you have a mum who likes this genre, Mother’s Day is coming up.

It was great to see everyone reunited again, and even though Vanessa and Simon might be going to elope I hope we get to hear their story. Grumpy/sunshine is usually a win for me but this one has missed the mark with me as it just didn’t hook me. If you are sick of the dark nights, the cold weather, and need a little pick me up then this book will do just that. Set in 1964, OEE follows the adventures of 22-year-old Meg as she sets off to help her mother run a small hotel in Dorset.Undaunted, she has plans to travel to France and work on her already impressive skills to chase her dream of becoming a pastry chef.

I adored Ambrosine who had a fabulous back story of helping the French resistance during WW2 in occupied France whilst being married to a French Count who was a Nazi sympathiser and held regular dinner parties for them. This novel, and indeed the series set in the 60's, has not captured my attention like her other stories have. But yeah, it's fiction, and we are allowed to have super friends who can rearrange their plans to help you.

With its delightful characters, vivid scenery descriptions and beautiful setting at Nightingale Woods Hotel in Dorset, this book takes readers on an enchanting journey full of hope, love and adventure. Some of the dialogue was clunky, and maybe that was something to do with the, unusual for her, 1960s setting (rampant sexism, smoking, short skirts etc etc).
