About this deal

You can do this twice a year, once in the late winter or early spring and once in the late summer or early fall. Compare this to the size of the opening of your chosen decorative pot and ensure it is big enough to insert the plant's grow pot through the opening (see diagram below). Symptoms include small, yellowish lesions on the leaves and twigs, as well as sunken, brown spots on the fruit. Lava-lamp orange with a burnt orange fade meets contemporary curved lines for a head-turning, sassy style statement.

Please note all measurements are approximate and can vary slightly due to the handmade nature of our pots. To keep pots looking pristine and avoiding damage to floors and furnishings the solution is to include a flexible liner inside the pot. Due to the artisanal nature of these pots, colour and pattern can vary and you may occasionally find dimples in the glaze.

These popular, easy-to-grow evergreen shrubs, with their attractive textural leaves and fragrant white spring flowers, provide year-round interest.

To get your containerized orange tree off on the right footing, you need the correct potting soil mix and the correct size pot. For a big splash of orange go for Dahlia ‘Vulcan’, a semi-double cactus variety that flowers for months with blooms that measure 17cm across. Add late colour to the garden with vivid orange chrysanthemums, such as ‘Dixter Orange’, selected by the late Christopher Lloyd of Great Dixter for its early flowering habit or 'Conella Orange' for its large, deep orange flowers that last well into autumn. Love the aroma of orange blossoms and the delicious fruit, but perhaps your climate is less than desirable for an outdoor orange tree grove? For plants in soil the key size in determining the maturity and fullness of a plant is the diameter of the grow pot. There's a huge spectrum of orange shades, from the palest peach and apricots in plants such as the moth orchid 'Las Vegas' and Geum'Totally Tangerine' to the brilliant orange of Dahlia 'Vulcan' and brick red orange of Gerbera 'Sweet Glow'. Look out for late frost forecasts and keep some horticultural fleece handy – you'll need it to cover and protect the new growth if frosts are predicted. Gather your materials: potting soil, a new pot, a potting mix containing fertilizer, a trowel, and a pair of garden scissors. If the intention is to leave the plant in its grow pot and sit it directly into the Artstone planter rather than re-potting the plant directly into the planter, please ensure you select a large enough size that will have enough internal height to hide the grow pot.

Soil plants - The height of the grow pot can vary slightly, but is usually slightly smaller or the same as its diameter. Lemon trees, Citrus x limon, and bitter or Seville oranges, Citrus x aurantium are the easiest citrus trees to grow. Note: If the shape of the planter tapers strongly at the base, it might not be wide enough for your plant to sit squarely at the bottom.

Hydroculture plant roots have been specially adapted to grow in hydrogranules, which creates a smaller, more fleshy and hardier root system. If you have little options other than a room indoors, then go for a Calamondin orange, x Citrofortunella microcarpa, which copes best with dry heat. It’s a big house plant with exotic flowers that is best suited to a warm room, out of direct sun, with plenty of humidity, such as a bathroom or conservatory. Alstroemeria, also known as Peruvian lilies, are long flowering and come in a range of shades from red and purple through to orange, yellow and white. For round shaped decorative pots we provide the external diameter of the widest point so you get a sense of how large the pot is on the outside, as well as the width of the opening.

Commercial potting mixes with peat moss, perlite, vermiculite, and compost are suitable as long as the soil is light enough to drain well. Drainage: Traditional indoor plant pots have drainage holes and stand in saucers to allow excess water to drain freely. Thin the citrus every spring to reduce the number of fruit, which is usually overkill for the size of the tree.

In taller planters they allow for the soil to be contained to an appropriate depth for the plant, without needing to fill the entire vessel with soil. We even have self-watering ones (for vacation days) and some with handles, too (for easier moving and watering). The flowers of daylilies, as the name suggests, only last a day, but the plant produces a prolific amount of flowers over the summer. This results in mature plants being available in smaller grow pots than their soil based equivalents. There are lots of others to choose from including Lilium henryi, a Turk’s cap lily, which has orange spotted petals that curve backwards.
