If the skin condition is severe, talk to a GP, nurse or health visitor, as you may need a stronger treatment. The risk is greater when this preparation is applied to large areas of the body and clothing or dressings become soaked with the emollient. If the ointment comes into contact with dressings, bandages, clothing, bed linen, towels or other fabrics these can be easily ignited by a naked flame or cigarette, particularly if large amounts of the ointment have been used, or the fabric or dressing have become soaked with the moisturiser. This multipurpose wonder can also be used as a soap substitute for cleansing and it suitable for both the face and body.

Emollients are often used to help manage dry, itchy or scaly skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and ichthyosis. We carry a selection of over-the-counter pharmacy liquids, gels and pastes for domestic and personal use, from Surgical Spiritto Hydrogen Peroxide. Ovelle has strong links with healthcare, and is a longstanding supplier to hospitals and aid agencies worldwide including UNICEF.The emulsifying ointment leaves a thin layer of oil on the skin's surface that stops water evaporating. Epimax ® oatmeal cream and Zeroveen ® cream are additionally recommended for use as a soap substitute.
