For her, the Merriam-Webster online dictionary's definition of overthinking is the most precise, when it comes to defining the issue. In addition, the tools might be of use as well, because whenever I find myself overthinking, I actually put them to practice, which actually works for me. Overall, this book was a positive surprise, and I might actually give a go at preparing a thought chart about some things that have been bothering me lately.

I took some psychology courses once upon a time, so I wasn't completely unprepared for the language and terminology introduced in this book. If I’d have paid money for both I would have been frustrated but having this on Prime Read I was able to skim read parts I had read before. The way you respond to your thoughts can sometimes keep you in a cycle of rumination, or repetitive thinking. As a psychological text, however, it is by no means as substantive as it could have been- and sometimes, the humour within it completely derails the entirety of the text. When you’re in the midst of overthinking, stop and take out your notebook or your favorite note-taking app on your phone. In essence, what this means is that the individual believes that if they worry they can stay on top of their environment and prevent terrible things from happening. The point that I make with worry and 'should' is that if you tell yourself you shouldn’t worry – apart from this being futile – it actually results in worrying more. Maybe you keep thinking about all the things that could go wrong when you give your presentation next week, or you’ve wasted countless hours trying to decide what to wear to your upcoming job interview.

If they arrived one by one, the system would flow with ease, but together, it clogs, doorways jam, the network grinds to halt. But, when you’re overthinking, you might find yourself replaying a conversation in your head repeatedly or imagining something bad happening many times. I am pretty prone to overthinking so I could relate to many of the examples and some of the strategies I already use and looking forward to having more to fall back on. Secondly, they believe that this form of vigilant overthinking will also provide them with the ability to predict and therefore be prepared for predicted negative outcomes.

Without just telling me to get over it - because those 3 words have me overthinking for days every time!

Si sois de esas personas que lo piensan todo 10000 veces y que cuando toman una decisión está llena de "¿Y si esto? I found it really great to listen and contemplate the way I worry, to take notes and later mull over some of the learnings. Let's just say that some of the behaviours and internal monologues described in this book sounded awfully familiar. She helps you understand what's going on in your head, using humour, lots of examples and anecdotes, and she offers powerful strategies for addressing your issues.I did not read the last part (Triggers for overthinking), because these triggers remind me of my own personal stuff and did not find it interesting to read.

Even though I'm a positive overthinker, I'm not claiming that negative thoughts or worries do not pop up in my mind.I picked this mostly as a procrastination short nonfiction read and didn't expect to find it this interesting.
