About this deal

Because I was brought up on the farm, and I thought if I ever get a few bob – never mind the fancy cars and all that – I’m gonna get a bit of land and a cow. I spent most of me childhood in Ireland,” Paul O’Grady said on RTÉ Radio 1′s Ryan Tubridy Show in 2015.

So you’ll have a whole diary for a year and all I’ll have written is, ‘Pipe burst in bathroom, ceiling fell in, f*** it’.He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion. Signing up to the KentLive newsletter means you'll get the latest news direct to your inbox twice a day.

But Paul really loves his country life with his furry friends by his side, and even wrote a book about it. All that stems from my love of the farm when I was a kid in Glinsk, it never goes away stuff like that. O’Grady’s partner Andre Portasio said in a statement: “It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.

In his book Country Life, the star said there’s a “real learning curve to living in a rural community”.

He also spoke about his health at the time, having had two heart attacks, saying: “The worst thing you can do is to sit and fret. Photos shows Paul lying on his bed with one of his dogs on top of his head, or pigs looking out of their pen and puppies running alongside.Grief doesn’t happen immediately, it hits you after a while, because you’ve got all the funeral and the fuss, then when that dies down you find yourself on your own, with time to contemplate what’s happened,” he said. The 65-year-old is also an advocate for animal rights, and often speaks out against animal exploitation and cruelty. He then went on to discuss his neighbours - Paul O'Grady and Julian Clary - who, as we know, both lived in Aldington.

Just a couple of miles away in the village of Bilsington is Priory Home Farm which is a well known equestrian, livery and riding school. The much-loved presenter passed away “peacefully” on Tuesday evening (March 28), his husband Andre announced in a statement. Paul has some famous neighbours with extravagant homes like Julian Clary and Alan Carr, but once described his own house as being “like the Dingles from Emmerdale”. When the villagers first heard Lily was moving in I think they were horrified,” he previously told the Daily Express. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, you are spoilt for choice for walks there, as well as along the nearby Royal Military Canal or along Dymchurch beach.

O’Grady’s love of animals was also apparent through his other work and in September 2016, he was recognised for his work with animals when he won the award for Outstanding Contribution to Animal Welfare at the RSPCA’s Animal Hero Awards. He’s never showed pictures of the outside of the house, but often posted his pets, including pigs, llamas, goats, donkeys and his famous pooches.
