Drums, Electronic Drums [Simmons Kit], Drum Machine [TR808], Percussion [Clay Pots, Sauce Pans], Cowbell [Cowbells] – P. Although the booklet claims that this is the original vinyl album on CD, three songs are shortened from their UK vinyl release; "Come Back and Stay", "Love Will Tear Us Apart" and "Love of the Common People", all of which use the respective single edits found on the original US and Canadian pressings of the album. Released in 1990, it features a duet with Chaka Khan on Bobby Womack’s ‘(You’re Welcome) Stop On By’ alongside appearances by Steve Winwood, Nile Rodgers, David Gilmour and Stevie Wonder.

Young released a version of the song " Both Sides, Now" with Irish group Clannad for the 1991 motion picture Switch. In December of ‘79 Streetband broke up and Paul went on to form the Q-Tips, together with the bass player and rhythm guitarist. The solo career wasn’t looking initially like an immediate soaraway success, as his first two singles didn’t do the business. He recovered sufficiently to become involved with the Band Aid single " Do They Know It's Christmas?

It is possible to create the original vinyl version of the album by using a combination of the original UK and US CD releases together with the 'Full length' version of Come Back and Stay which is included on the 2015 Tomb of Memories career-spanning box set. Young sang the British national anthem, " God Save the Queen", at Wembley Stadium before England's Euro '96 semi-final match against Germany. Don't Dream It's Over", "Senza una donna (Without a Woman)" and "Both Sides Now" were featured on Young's first greatest hits album, From Time To Time – The Singles Collection (1991). The best of this material was completed during the ‘freedom’ periods and will be heard on a new album to be released in the summer of 2022. in the UK Singles Chart for three weeks in July and August 1983, and the first of Young's 14 British Top 40 singles.

The latter appeared on his second album, The Secret of Association, released in 1985, which secured his future success in the United States, Japan and Australia. They recorded a four track CD-ep that found it’s way into London’s only Country music station and their self-penned song “Shadows On The Rise” was played on heavy rotation for three months. These dates were in support of the “No Parlez 25th Anniversary Edition” re-release of his first Solo Album…. This wasn’t enough though for Paul, and after hearing Paul’s demos at a local recording studio, he left the Kool Kats, and moved to London in 1976 taking up the offer to be in the better known Streetband. His interest in music dates back to when he was very young, when he learnt to play the piano and then the guitar. Two songs from this cd were covered by Country artists; ‘Then There’s You’ by The Wilkinsons and ‘Tularosa’ by Ray Vega. During parts of 1987, Young toured extensively as the opening act for Genesis on their Invisible Touch Tour.

Come Back And Stay was like a rock song, but there wasn’t enough guitar in it, so the rock stations didn’t play it. In November 2001, when Young was on the final night of the Here and Now tour, Michael Aspel awarded him his This is Your Life book.It didn’t start that way, but Don had a Filofax full of both famous names and top session players and he kept saying: ‘Why don’t we do this song with such-and-such and that song with somebody else? Sadly, although radio gave them a fair chance with such singles as ‘Tracks Of My Tears’, ‘Some Kind Of Wonderful’ and their last track on the Chrysalis label ‘Stay The Way You Are’, it didn’t really translate into record sales. Success came at last with ‘Wherever I Lay My Hat’, which maintained the number 1 spot for the summer of 1983. That became a total surprise and then, when it went on to become huge across Europe, it was an incredible feeling. CD1 follows the original US edition of the album Come Back And Stay" is a shorter, different mix to the UK album edition.

Paul Young - No Parlez - Live - BBC1 - Monday 4th May 1987

Look closer, however, and the singer may seem familiar as a man who was one of the biggest solo stars of the 80s – and an actual household name, scoring a US No.

His first heavy promotional and live concert tour of America strained his vocal cords to the extent that he was forced to rest his voice and did not sing for much of the year. I really like albums where you’ve got pop on it, but not pop from start to finish where the album’s quite shallow with no depth to it. The group’s early performances were in bars and clubs, performing a mixture of their own material and covers.
