About this deal

Following the disbanding of bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Stone Gossard's previous group Mother Love Bone, the two recruited vocalist Eddie Vedder, guitarist Mike McCready, and drummer Dave Krusen to form Pearl Jam in 1990. This version had the lacquer cut at Nashville Record Productions Inc, cut by Wes Garland "WG/NRP" and pressed by United Record Pressing as differentiated by matrix/runout. Despite printed credits copied from the 1991 CD release, this LP was not mastered at Masterdisk or by Bob Ludwig. Easily one of the quietest records I own, and absolutely needs to be repressed on 2xLP at some point. For 'Even Flow' there was a much louder and deeper sound on the Original 1994 Ten Lp than on this reissue, the drums were much better sounding on the Original 1994 Lp.

Based on all the negative reaction towards the original Dutch release, I'm guessing that one was done quickly and without much care. The band is routinely blamed for the self-gratifying Stone Temple Pilots, Creeds, and Nicklebacks that followed Ten, but the band naturally never set out to remake rock music in its own image. Stupidest thing is the cardboard sleeve the vinyl came in, completely scuffed the record, even if it DNAP it bring the grade of the vinyl down to VG+ at best, right out of the jacket, brand new.

After several long years of hair metal dominance, here was a band that could jam stadium-large, texture their sound darkly and densely, and explode the blues-rock template.

I am not sure whether it was meant to be a promo (no such sticker on it) or to be discarded, but was eventually rescued and sold on second-hand market.Use of this site constitutes acceptance of our User Agreement and Privacy Policy and Cookie Statement and Your California Privacy Rights.

At times, it's a bit overwrought ("I don't question our existence/ I just question our modern needs"), but the earnestness with which Vedder sang and the band played these songs belies the decade's reputation as a period of pervasive irony.Granted, as a new band with few realistic prospects for the kind of success they quickly achieved, Pearl Jam were working with a very different set of expectations than the ones retroactively assigned to them. Here was a frontman with an entirely new stage presence, whose voice strained hard for sincerity and whose songwriting expressed grave self-reckoning without resorting to easy sentiments or self-glorifying choruses. S pressing is the best, it won't be staying in the frame once i get my hands on it, records are made to be played. Easily mistaken for lack of dynamics…because in comparison to the cd version, that has a lot (to much perhaps? It's one of my all time favorite albums but I have to wait for some good release, until now I enjoy still my CD version.
