Speaking at the BSR’s first ever conference in London last month, Peter Baker said the opening of registration for higher risk buildings would be a “milestone” for buildings safety. But it was Bake Off that inspired him to start baking for himself – he has watched every series since the first and has been baking seriously since he was only 12 years old. I was so dissapointed to not be able to get this book when it came out because I love GBBO but geing gluten-free I couldn't use the shows recipes.The Scot liked to include native ingredients in his creations – such as berries, whisky, oats and honey – whenever he can so fans can possibly expect more of this in his book. After retiring from the game he settled in Durban, South Africa, where he ran an office and stationery business.

Now, in PETER BAKES, Peter reveals the secrets to his baking success, his brilliant recipes and gluten-free options, and his trademark tricks including how to listen to your cakes, how to enhance your skills and how to develop the confidence to trust your senses in the kitchen.

Its purpose is to create a new regulatory regime for high-risk buildings and to ensure the industry complies with them, as well as overseeing work to increase the competence of professionals working in the built environment. The establishment of the BSR, which sits within the HSE, was among the recommendations made by Dame Judith Hackitt in the wake of the 2017 Grenfell Tower tragedy, which killed 72 people.

Peter is from Edinburgh and currently a student studying accounting and finance at Edinburgh University.
