The author has done a fantastic job of bringing the storyline down to characters who could have been me or you. Harry and Freya Kipling have long dreamed of finding something special in their boot sale tat, something that would change their lives forever. The storyline was easy to read and there were no complicated plot twists, meaning all my attention went on the murders and violence throughout! If you would like to change your settings or withdraw consent at any time, the link to do so is in our privacy policy accessible from our home page. Whilst it can be read as a standalone book, I would recommend reading the others in the series as well.

Caught up in this are the Kiplings who bought a painting because they liked its frame only to discover that under its uninspiring overpainting lay a possible rare painting . A TV adaptation of the Roy Grace series is currently in development, with Peter overseeing all aspects, including the scriptwriting.

They always knew, like all of us who hope to win the lottery one day, that their dream would never materialise. I have read all of the Roy Grace series of books and am delighted it is now a television drama as well. As well as the familiar cast, there are new characters who are wonderfully constructed and vividly portrayed. To view the purposes they believe they have legitimate interest for, or to object to this data processing use the vendor list link below.

And Harry and Freya Kipling are about to discover that their dream is turning into their worst nightmare. This story twists and turns itself through the cold case investigation that Grace and his team are looking into and the Kipling’s story of their unexpected treasure! Plus I learned what the Daddy Long Legs railway was – I will use that in one of my own future books. We’d all probably be like the Kipling’s though and plan the future with a bit of money in our pockets. This painting could be worth millions if genuine and one collector believes that it is and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Detective Superintendent Roy Grace finds himself plunged into the unfamiliar and rarefied world of fine art. Like Peter James, the late American novelist Irving Wallace wrote big, hefty page-turners (as well as fascinating reference works to be read for pleasure) and also scattered his works with information and curiosities.
