About this deal

Mackay is sent as his runner, and all he demands is a helicopter and ten thousand pounds in unmarked notes. The prison exterior in the title sequence is the old St Albans prison gatehouse and HM Prison Maidstone, which was also featured in the BBC comedy series Birds of a Feather (HMP Slade is referred to in Birds of a Feather when the protagonists' husbands are imprisoned there after reoffending in Series 7). Barrowclough, the prison warder, is timid, sympathetic and gullible to the antics of Fletcher and the other inmates.

After a few celebratory drinks at the governor's sherry party, Mackay pays the invalided Fletcher a visit in the infirmary for a moment of solidarity. The main storylines of the sitcom focus on its central character, Norman Stanley Fletcher, a man from Muswell Hill, London. After Mr Barrowclough fails to discover alcohol in Fletcher and Godber's cell, Fletcher reveals to Godber that he hid the booze in their metal bedpost.

Subsequently, Barker is reported to have said that he regretted recording himself as the judge, [ citation needed] a role subsequently played by Maurice Denham in two episodes of the third series. The episode ends with a triumphant Fletcher drinking his whisky and wishing Mackay a Merry Christmas.

Regarded by many critics as Britain's best sitcom, Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais's tales of life inside Slade Prison first hit the screens in 1973 and three series were transmitted before the prison show finally closed its doors in 1977. As you probably know by now My Family is my favourite sitcom, and my two favourite Xmas specials are the episodes Glad Tidings We Bring (the 2004 Christmas Special - this is the one where Janey gets married, Daniela Denby-Ashe looked really pretty in that wedding dress that she had to wear for filming that episode 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍) and 2039 : A Christmas Oddity (the 2009 Christmas special, because it's hilarious πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚). You are an habitual criminal, who accepts arrest as an occupational hazard, and presumably accepts imprisonment in the same casual manner. The earlier one with Paul's party is great too, but this one is a lovely send off for Martin and Ann.For another light watch, comedian Russell Howard will be looking back at 2020 and focusing on the things which brought a smile to our faces at a time when things were pretty tough. Unfortunately, Barrowclough's bicycle is stolen as part of the escape plan and, on confronting Godber, Warren and Fletcher about the theft, he is left in a state of confusion with their responses. Porridge like other well remembered comedies of the last century endure because they pretty much had to be designed for a family audience. However, after the completion of the second series, the hospital withdrew permission for more filming following complaints from patients' families.

Lukewarm, a skilled pickpocket, manages to steal Barrowclough's watch under the faΓ§ade of wishing him a Merry Christmas. per month but has some great Christmas crackers for the whole family to enjoy, here is a list of the best. Was Mackay's drinking so bad last Christmas that it led the governor to declare HMP Slade an alcohol-free zone? The interior shots of doors being locked were filmed in Shepherds Bush police station – the BBC had a good relationship with officers there. As Fletcher points out, the Christmas choir only exists so that it can drown out the sound of Tommy Slocombe's tunnelling, his escape attempt scheduled for Christmas Eve.

Goodnight Mister Tom and Die Hard are two musts and we'll always stick The Snowman on if we notice it's on when we're just scrolling through the tv guide.AccessDeniedAwsUsers|The Access Key Id AKIAIMGPK72YLC3NKSZQ is not enabled for accessing this version of Product Advertising API.
