It just went to show, you never knew when one seemingly insignificant action might cause another that was capable of changing your life. Her the characters are well drawn, some are nicer than others, they have human foibles, they make bad decisions, get their wires crossed and have insecurities, just as we all do, it makes for compelling reading. It was solid and square, with symmetrical rows of six-paned sash windows on three levels, a silver-grey slate roof, wisteria climbing up the walls and impressive stone pillars flanking the front door. The romance is plentiful and a rollercoaster of emotions for many added to that we have strong friendships too.After a short stay in the Cotswolds Lou received a job offer from Edgar ( a grumpy eighty year old man ). Jill weet als geen ander personages met elkaar te verbinden middels verschillende verhaallijnen en dat vind ik persoonlijk echt een grote kracht in haar verhalen. Edgar, the old man set upon living life to the fullest before he passes away, does push her to her limits; but, she knows that despite the pay-off she believes she'll receive after, she just wants him to find a bit of happiness, no matter how late in life it comes. All of the characters in Promise Me felt so real, you can actually envisage them as people in the world around you. This was getting silly now; she’d got herself into a situation with a truculent pensioner who was a stranger to manners.
