Description

While Adrian’s point of view is included, the majority of the story is told from Isolde’s perspective. It was the same with the first book which I slogged through before moving on to this Arc hoping there would be some kind of plot development but nope, no plot development or character development. I know I am not comfortable with the idea enslaved island used a a plot devise to create an argument or conflict between Adrian and Isolde. So, even if the world is against them, even if the evil beings who want them dead are trying to separate them, destroy them, I believe they will always come back to each other <3 That's one aspect I love about their relationship.

I loved her trigger warnings as I haven’t seen many authors do that (though I’m sure there are others). But a lot of the content in this novel was pretty graphic, so though it doesn’t happen in real time or to the main character, it might still be intense to read.

She's an antiheroine who is very confused by her new life and is trying to find a way to adapt but stuff keep happening.

Adrian and her are always bickering but she’s always lusting and then they’re having sex and everyone pretends the problems didn’t really matter? Not to mention, you can’t blame people for being afraid of magic when all of their problems are related to magic.

They fell a little flat and into trope-like cycles, even though this second book should have been where they started to develop and grow together. I started this blog back in 2015 to be a place where I could be creative and share things that I love.
