Description

This side rafter bracket is generally used on properties where there is no fascia board at the eaves (often referred to as open eaves). Take our popular ‘Infinity’ rainwater system guttering, available in galvanised steel (and colour coated glav steel), natural zinc, copper and stainless steel. Finished in our Textured Black powder coat, the bracket is not only strong but also has a premium quality look and feel that matches our Framola range perfectly.

Now that you’ve got a decent idea of how big your rafters are going to be, we’ll go through how to build them step by step. Simpson Strong-Tie also offers another style, which attaches to the front of the top plate and the side of the rafter. When it comes time to attach your roof, be it trusses or rafters, be sure to consider what best suits the needs of the structure you’re building.Installation is similar to rafters; only you’re driving the 6” screw through the underside of the top plate into the top and bottom chords of the truss instead of into the rafter. If you’re looking for an option that creates a more secure connection than your standard toenailing, consider these twist straps from Simpson Strong-tie. As with the rafter, make sure you drive the screw in at the point where the top plate and wall stud meet. Now, your rafter is going to a little longer than half the span of your shed since it is at an angle.

A collar tie is a length of lumber that attaches to each opposing rafter near the peak, preventing your rafters from spreading apart. You’ll install them so that the mark you made on the top plates is in the center of the notched opening of the connector.

First of all, the notch creates more surface area in the connection between the top plate and rafter, allowing for a better connection for fastening the two together.

A perfect high-quality, low-cost solution to the edging detail on your next small flat roof building project. This total span is well within the load capacity of 2×4 rafters, but how far apart can we space the rafters? Before we get started, it’s important to consider why attaching your roof, be it a truss-style or rafter-style roof, to your structure is such a critical step in the construction process.
