But it really boils down to what kind of hi fi system one has, as I remembered listening to the original when it first came out years ago, it was an ear bleeding experience. Recently picked this up, and my copy matches the picture exactly - an “A” that maybe looks like RL on the A side, and an “A” that is clearly an A on the B side. I scanned this board for consensus on this board and was ready to take this back without even listening to it. Coupled with how hard Rage's music goes in general, it really makes for a visceral rock 'n roll experience.

What's more, it's clearly written on the inner sleeve, at least the one with the cut-out lid, that the album was mastered by Bob Ludwig. Also you need a really Hi End system to notice the compression that was introduced by remastering it, other than that this thing slams as hard as the OG, turn up the volume and given how expensive the OG pressing is this is totally worth it.Finally, I don't have the third variant yet, I hope that someone who does have it can give more information about the details that differentiate it from the first two editions; By the way, all 3 VARIANTS were pressed simultaneously in 1992, so if you own any of the 3, feel lucky, buddy! Sonic wise - it sounds great but exactly like the European original CD, which is why I assume the same digital master were used for both. It is however slightly pringled, slightly off centre and has a few pops on track 2 from a tiny blemish. Can you imagine when they were just getting started how much it must have sucked to have booked them as your opening band?

I did that when I bought this back in the 90's, and over the years the ink on the slipmat leeched into the vinyl making it pretty much unplayable. It's definitely not an original because on the inner sleeve, the side with the pictures of Peter Tosh etc. Ludwig even cited it when asked in an interview about the three best sounding records he's (re)mastered.Epic Records, a division of Sony music Entertainment, © 1992, 2015 Epic Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment. I haven't compared, but seriously doubt there would be any improvement with either a UK or US original as MOVLP043 sounds absolutely bloody brilliant. The master was of course made by Ludwig, but the cutting seem to be a straight transfer from the digital master. Admittedly I haven't heard any pressed from the Bob Ludwig cut, but I know the material well and I'm not missing anything in detail and impact. I can’t disagree that the US original hits harder but the Euro non RL is still crispy and sounds great contrary to what you may have heard.

I absolutely agree with all those people, but MOV did a reissue of the original UK vinyl AND the 20th anniversary. Side note, if you’re a Ludwig fan, and you like Rush, his cut of Moving Pictures is the only one I’ve heard that I’d say is maybe better than this. This pressing is great, yeah it doesn't have the separation of the OG, but this album is mixed and mastered so good, that even CD slams, so this is perfectly fine pressing for majority of fans.I then found your post and i know you have always had decent gear so i thought 'hang on, something weird is going on. I also have the MoV Evil Empire, which is from original EU parts and i would say this is along those lines.

The boxset contains never-before-released concert material, including the band's 2010 Finsbury Park show and footage from early in their career, as well as a digitally-remastered version of the album, B-sides and the original Rage Against The Machine demo tape (on CD for the first time). I then did some investigation on Discogs and found this has the same matrix info (RATM A1/1B) on it for a 1992 pink transparent Netherlands issue.

And, unless I find a deal on a US pressing I can’t refuse, I’m gonna stick with this one for the long haul. Best vinyl is the original US '92 as that was cut all analogue and is the ONLY all analogue pressing of this album. Couldn't help but let out a laugh when Timmy C's bass kicks in on People of the Sun - crisp, punchy low end that slaps you across the face. I am sure they did some overdubs and edits here and there, but this was very much a live in the studio kind of record. Forum members have not been kind about the Rage Against The Machine, S/T album, 20th anniversary remaster in the thread about it.
