About this deal

While not royal herself, Susannah came from a wealthy family and moved in royal circles and with famous people such as Elton John and Imran Khan. Emma holds an MA in International Journalism from City, University of London, and a BA in English Literature from Trinity College Dublin. Daniel Mason’s latest novel is one of those rare books that truly deserves the description “spellbinding”.

After an expensive education, she frequented society nightclubs and socialised with Princess Margaret, Elton John and ( raising my forearms in a cross in front of me) Margaret Thatcher. When that marriage proposal never showed up, she dated Imran Khan –then a gorgeous playboy/cricket player and now the Prime Minister of Pakistan, before meeting her husband. The first page of Susannah Constantine’s autobiography, Ready for Absolutely Nothing, does an admirable job of setting the tone.Susannah Constantine is famous as the noughties style guru on What Not To Wear, but this is the least interesting thing about her. Constantine has an intrepid side; little fazes her, not even the fact she’s apt to faint when going to the loo. I’d like to have known more about Susannah’s partnership with Trinny, the breakup and her career since. About the Author: Susannah Constantine is a novelist, journalist broadcaster and podcaster with over 25 years experience in the media and 50 years of f**k ups under her belt. In previous interviews, Susannah has blamed her breakup with Linley on the perils of being young and naive. One of those who have praised Susannah Constantine’s memoir is none other than Lady Glenconner, and there are certain similarities between this book and the wildly bestselling Lady in Waiting . I knew nothing about her TV show so the omission of that part of her life didn't mean much to me and some of the "British-isms" went over my head, but she was candid in most of her musings although there were times I rolled my eyes at her self-admitted sense of self-importance and naivety in real people struggles. Susannah Constantine's Ready For Absolutely Nothing gives readers a fascinating insight into the extraordinary life story of the What Not To Wear star. Now 60, the mother-of-three never married into the Royal Family, but she continues to hold a special place in her heart for the memories of this chapter of her life. But I don’t know, for all that it must have been lucrative, that it made her happy, even if it was only after it ended that her boozing began in earnest (she once appeared drunk on QVC). Personally could've done without the toilet stories but maybe that's my lower class coming out, ha ha. This darkly funny, confessional memoir from the star of What Not to Wear tells from her posh upbringing and the dishy details of her career in fashion to her journey as a recovering alcoholic. Rather than being chronological, it seemed to jump all over the place and the strangest thing is that a big chunk of her life – when she made her name in What Not To Wear – seems to be missing.
