About this deal

That Award-winning sound of the MK2 oozes through our speakers, yet with the lowered noise floor offering more clarity and expanding the horizons of its dynamic range. From your date of purchase your product is warranted against faulty materials or workmanship for a period of 12 months. I have yet to review MoFi’s hardware – despite my requests…and they agreeing to send…and nothing turning up…and me asking again…[repeat] But I do hear good things about them.

Rega Fono MM MK3 Phono Preamp Review

I let it burn in for about 100 hours, probably played 15-20 records, and I still felt the highs were over emphasized, and the bass missing the warmth and punch of the previous version. could have been over before the closing bars of the opening track, so clear was the the Fono’s talent. There are two separate power supplies for each channel and further sub-power supplies for each of the low noise input circuits. We’re not exactly bored or left confused by the iFi’s performance, but we’d certainly trade some of that cleanliness for a little more feeling.Only problem I have with it is the back moves a lot when you plug in the RCA cables (so hopefully you only need to do that once) and from photos I can not see that Rega have done anything about that on the MK5. Meanwhile more energetic offerings are dealt with that similarly trademark Rega punch and enthusiasm, showing off a fine sense of rhythm and a confidence to be precise but non-regimental, letting dynamics drive the percussion as much as having a firm grip on timing. The MX-VYNL is user-friendly and flexible, from its quick navigation on the moving coil and moving magnet. I know that it is not possible for you to actually review all the above devices, but any input would be useful. During the early part of this track I was impressed, during a high energy, rather noisy part of the sound, how the drums were kicking up a storm, the guitar was a beast of noise and yet the delicate cymbal taps were clearly evident with enough space in and around to offer their own reverb tails.

I wouldn't classify myself as an audiophile but I do listen to a lot of music and know what I like / don't like. When testing the phono preamp out with the Rega Planar 3/Elys record player (it's moving magnet only), we were once again struck by the unit's fast, punchy sound that gives your favourite tracks a real sense of weight and gusto. The curved front phase is beautifully machine-shaped, making the Moon appear classier than its rivals. We love the scale of performance and the way the Vertere delivers the seismic dynamic shifts of the recording with so much enthusiasm. For example should I be looking to spend the same again as the TT or would a lower cost example suffice? In contrast I've always had a least one RP2/RP3 variant and settled on the RP6 because it the most "pimped" RP3 Rega were ever going to make.

While the texture and timbre of an instrument is interesting in itself, it needs timing and expression to be music. There is plenty of drive to the title track with the Rega conveying the hard-charging energy of the track well. At first I was pretty impressed with the built in as it wasn't as much of a drop off as I was expecting, but after a few more sides, it became pretty obvious that the stand alone amp was better. In her spare time, Kash can be found catching up with TV shows, tending to an ever-growing houseplant collection and hanging out with her cat Jolene. That new case is certainly attractive enough, while that same agile, punchy performance gives you just the sound you're looking for if you like your music to have a bit of bite. Sitting and thinking "this is as good as a brand I really respect, can take a design that has served me so well", is relaxing place for my head to be in.

What Hi-Fi? iFi Zen Phono review | What Hi-Fi?

Great turntables but once you get upto the point where you can afford the Linn, that's the way to go.add on a decent stereo amp (also expensive) or upgrade the phono stage as whilst I've heard that the one in the Marantz AV amps is pretty good, I wonder if external is better? s phono stage has Yamaha's natural sound, sparkling and comparing to Mani; Mani has more bass yet 2100's is more detailed and uses the advantage of not getting connected via interconnects (silent).
