It was also predictable, but in a way that still took you off guard when the twists happened because they were full of hard truths and just so tragic.Days later, Morgan continues to care for Elijah until Clara drives to Jonah’s home and convinces him to take Elijah back. Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity’s notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. Not only do I love her success for what it’s doing for the romance genre, but I also just love her story of success. Clara manipulates Miller (the guy she's in love with) to sleep with him (cringy dialogues and sex scenes alert! Let me start by suggesting that you should read this book with no prior knowledge of what the story entails. As much as Layken relishes their new life together, she finds herself wanting to know everything there is to know about her husband, even though Will makes it clear he prefers to keep the painful memories of the past where they belong. This could easily be a five star for me but unfortunately I read this book after The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, and Daisy and The Six, both stellar books and a difficult act to follow. How sometimes, it feels like someone is shaking the world around you, and things are flying at you from every direction, but if you wait long enough, everything will start to calm.
