Description

The Thursday Murder Club - Elizabeth, Ron, Joyce and Ibrahim are embroiled in a new adventure when a person from Elizabeth’s past slips a note through her door asking to meet. Due to a lack of proof, the police's hands are tied and the remaining trio is told to seek retribution themselves.

It’s a mystery to me why you never got married, old son,” says Ron to Ibrahim, and takes the bottle of white wine from the cooler on the table. Abridged: Sara Davies; Reader: Haydn Gwynne; Producer: Mary Ward-Lowery; Music: Tom Constantine (25 January 2021). Last week, Sally Rooney’s third novel Beautiful World, Where Are You topped the UK’s charts with sales of 46,065 copies. All these events and the people associated with them get woven into a tangled and sometimes very helpful mess.

The personal story of Ibrahim is quite touching and, unfortunately, a horrific reminder that assaults like this do happen to our seniors. The whole escapade is written in such a lively entertaining and engaging way that it’s hard to put down once you start. Instead, it would be far more likely for Joyce to tell Elizabeth and for Elizabeth to mention it to Douglas, who would obviously mention it to Poppy. TTMC establishes the unique friendships between the characters as well as highlights what makes each character special. At MI5, Lance notes that Andrade has booked a flight from New Jersey to an airport near Martin’s home.

The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman audiobook review — a feelgood crime caper that reflects society as it is". In this story we are reunited with Elizabeth, Joyce, Ron and Ibrahim, shortly after the events of Book 1.

With Breathtaking, the palliative care specialist turns her attention to Covid, in a raw and unflinching portrayal of life on the frontline of the pandemic. After the excitement of all the recent murders, things have calmed down at Coopers Chase retirement village, but Joyce Meadowcroft notices that, at the most recent meeting of the Thursday Murder Club, her good friend Elizabeth is a bit distracted. When Connie reveals she has only two diamonds (Elizabeth has hidden the rest), Andrade shoots Martin. What follows is a gripping mystery involving a double murder and missing diamonds, mobsters and mafia connections, MI5 agents gone rogue and twists and turns at every corner that keep you guessing till the very end.

But this time they are up against an enemy who wouldn't bat an eyelid at knocking off four septuagenarians. Her genre voicing and voice inflections deliver the right amount of drama and humor to the listener. She turns left at the top of the stairs, transfers the flowers to her left hand and knocks on the door of number 14. However, after seeing the hidden letter in the tree, she realized that Douglas still loved Elizabeth and planned to betray her. A plan to thwart all of these bad people – and dole out the correct amount of violent retribution to each – requires the full measure of Elizabeth’s genius, but of course she manages it all, while at the same time (here’s the clever part) raising none of the usual concomitant risks of going mano a mano with dangerous criminals.
